Project Updates: Exclusive Project Runway All Stars Winner Admits, I Was in 'Utter Shock' After Season 6 Winner Announced That Night!

Hello everybody,

It was the scream heard all the way from Fifth Avenue to our nation’s capital. Thursday’s Project Runway All Stars finale ended with Anthony Williams being named the winner of Season 6, a moment in which the designer felt nothing but “utter shock.”

“Out of everyone left in the competition, I was the person who never made it that far,” Williams tells TVLine. “To hear them call my name was, like, ‘Wait, is this really happening?’ Winning is something you hope will happen, but the three of us up there were conditioned to not winning. I think any of us would have been shocked.”

Williams was so stunned by the sound of his own name, in fact, that he can barely remember the big moment even happening.

“I remember Alyssa [Milano] in the green dress, and I remember her saying my name, but that’s about it,” he admits. “I have no idea how I got from the runway to the backstage area. I may never know how the hell I made it there. Not ever.”

Despite his admitted shock, Williams knew that his final collection (“If Audrey Hepburn lived long enough to become Rihanna”) was strong.

“People are always telling me that I’m not young enough, not modern enough,” he says. “Rihanna was my muse in the competition, and I wanted to find a way to connect her to the vintage appeal that I like to put in my clothing. She and Audrey Hepburn are two relevant icons that I knew people would recognize. I knew that people would connect with one or the other, or both.”

Truth be told, Williams had a master plan throughout the entire competition, one he gleaned from his previous life as a drag queen.”

Charmed Updates: Exclusive Even the Biggest 'Charmed' Fans Completely Missed These Hidden Jokes and Goofs!

Charmed Updates icon

Hello everybody,

If you've watched all eight seasons of Charmed, and you're even pumped about the reboot, you probably think you know everything about the show. And sure, maybe you cried when Prue (spoiler alert!) died or crapped your pants at anything the demon Barbas did, but that still doesn't mean you know all the nitty-gritty details about the show, from hidden Easter eggs to little goofs. In fact, there are at least two or three mistakes and continuity errors in every episode. Don't believe us? Watch our video above to see how well you are at spotting them.

"Although old fans still enjoy rewatching the original episodes on Netflix, there's about to be a whole new generation of Charmed lovers joining the fandom. The new series, which will air on The CW, will have a brand new cast of characters different from the original, but the premise —three college-aged sisters discover that they're witches — is essentially the same. But the OG cast isn't all that happy about the show coming back.

"Here’s the thing. Until you ask us to rewrite it like producer] Brad Kern did weekly don’t even think of capitalizing on our hard work," Holly Marie Combs, who played Piper, tweeted. "Charmed belongs to the 4 of us, our vast amount of writers, crews and predominantly the fans. FYI you will not fool them by owning a title/stamp. So bye."

As for Alyssa Milano, who played Phoebe, back in 2013, she expressed thoughts that were against bringing the show back for a reboot. "The thing about them doing a #charmed reboot is... it just... it feels like yesterday," she tweeted. "It feels too close."

Surprisingly, Shannen Doherty, who played Prue, is totally on board. "I'm intrigued by the idea that a new generation might be comforted, inspired like all you were," she tweeted. "Charmed helped us all in some way."

Charmed Updates: Exclusive Spotlight On "Charmed" Books, With Novel Penned By Emma Harrison, "Phoebe Who" Finally Added!

Charmed Updates icon

Hello everybody,

I am trying to make something different here with "Charmed Novel" since the page that I am building is still under construction. Let's continue this week with the online novel penned by Emma Harrison, "Phoebe Who"! Survival of the Fittest is the 26th book of the Charmed novel series. The novel takes place right before the Season 4 finale, as Piper is not yet pregnant. This causes some conflict with the actual series timeline, as Paige clearly states it is the end of June (they celebrated the summer solstice).

"Description:

A battle's finale, one sister lost—
Enemies disguised as friends, aim to cross.
Two sisters must remind her what she can't recall:
To bring her home safely and restore power to all.

Phoebe is exhausted—between work, demon fighting, and helping her sisters, she has no time for herself. When she wakes from a battle not knowing who or where she is, Phoebe gets her long-awaited getaway and then some. A stranger named Aura promptly finds her and takes Phoebe into her care. There's something off about Aura and her friends, but Phoebe ignores her instinct and tries to settle into this new, relaxed lifestyle.

Meanwhile, Piper and Paige fear the worst. They scry for Phoebe, but she is nowhere to be found. Not only have Aura and her friends put a cloaking spell on Phoebe, but they have also reintroduced her to magic, taking her on "missions" to steal protection charms from good witches. Their latest mission? Convincing Phoebe that Piper and Paige are evil and need to be rendered powerless.

Will Piper and Paige be able to find Phoebe—and help her find herself—in time to restore the Power of Three?"

Hello everybody,

I am trying to make something different here with "Charmed Novel" since the page that I am building is still under construction. The novel takes place right before the Season 4 finale, as Piper is not yet pregnant. "Description:

Taken bodies were found unchanged,
but their minds are under control.
Release all thoughts of this new craze;
find the demon that plagues their souls.

Alien abduction fever has gripped San Francisco. People everywhere are reporting loved ones missing...only to have them show up at home with no recollection of having been gone. The Charmed Ones can't help but become involved, especially when Phoebe receives a letter to her advice column from a woman who's convinced her sister was "taken." The victim says she was just out, but since she's returned, she's developed an almost demonic devotion to a new workout program.

The workout program in question, created by Meg Winship, has become incredibly popular in the Bay Area. Even Piper, after seeing an infomercial, suddenly finds herself jogging to the "Winship Way." Luckily there's a rally being held in San Francisco in the next few days. Meg Winship herself will appear to further inspire and thank her new disciples.

If there's something supernatural involved, as the sisters suspect, the fitness fiesta is their best bet to figure out who — or what — is in charge of the chaos."

New Article: A guide to the low-wattage White House Correspondents’ Dinner party circuit (thanks, Trump)
Posted on 08 Apr 2018
Posted by Admin
Gallery Updates icon

Hello everybody,

This year’s White House correspondents’ dinner weekend (yes, weekend) marks a return to simpler times when most attendees had at least some sort of tangential relationship to journalism.

"Long gone, thanks to the possibility of an appearance at the dinner by President Trump, are the Hollywood celebrities and the buzz. Even the cottage industry of anti-parties is a no-go this time around: Comedian Samantha Bee isn’t returning to Washington for her “Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner” and BuzzFeed, which hosted a much-hyped also-ran party, has been mum on whether it’ll be tapping kegs in 2018.

Add to that the holdover cancellations of the swanky Bloomberg/Vanity Fair, People/Time and Google events (RIP), and the parties surrounding the 2018 correspondents’ dinner just got a lot wonkier. Here’s what we know so far about the leaner social calendar surrounding the big dinner (mind you, these are invite-only, so start working your DMs if you want to score a ticket). Know of another WHCD-adjacent party? Email us at reliablesource@washpost.com."

Charmed Updates: Exclusive Well I Kinda Agree With This, Why We Don’t Need A Charmed Reboot!
Posted on 07 Apr 2018
Posted by Admin
Charmed Updates icon

Hello everybody,

The TV shows I watched growing up will always have a special place in my heart and one of these is Charmed, the iconic fantasy drama revolving around the lives of three sister witches, the ‘Charmed Ones’, who tackle demons, warlocks, and the dating scene a decade before the invention of Tinder.

"From the 90s fashion (these gals were sporting chokers when Kendall Jenner was still in babygrows) to the catchy soundtrack, I struggle to think of any show as bewitching, entertaining, and endearing as Charmed. It’s been almost 13 years since the final episode aired but that doesn’t make it any less relevant or entertaining in my eyes.

If I happen to stumble upon an episode whilst flicking through the channels, I can kiss goodbye to my work for the next 40 minutes, and a Charmed mug is still nestled in my kitchen cupboard. However, in January, the CW, the US TV network behind the original series, announced that a reboot of Charmed is in the works which beg the question – can a reboot ever live up to the original?

My immediate response is no, never. There were so many unique ingredients that made the Charmed potion the roaring success that it was, and I vehemently doubt that any reboot could cast such a spell on its audience. What really ruffles my broomstick is that the CW has described the reboot as “fierce, funny, and feminist” which is nothing short of absurd.

The original series was the definition of “fierce, funny, and feminist”. Until being usurped by Desperate Housewives in 2012, it was the longest-running TV show ever to feature an all-female lead cast and it projected a positive message to a generation of girls about independence, sisterhood, and girl power.

The source of the witches’ powers was their sisterly bond, giving them the “Power of Three”, without which their powers were considerably weaker, highlighted in an episode which sees the sister witches completely lose their magic after using it against each other. It was a magical portrayal of female relationships; they not only loved each other but quite literally powered each other on, and I struggle to think of a better metaphor for strong women supporting strong women (may we know them, may we be them, may we watch them vanquish demons on TV).

On a more sartorial note, unlike other world-saving women in TV, Charmed’s Halliwell sisters didn’t sacrifice a morsel of femininity in their fight against evil. Each episode saw them getting down and dirty with demons and warlocks, but the risk of a little demon ichor didn’t stop them giving the Sex and the City fashionistas a run for their money with their kitten heels and lashings of lip gloss. Thus, they showed all female viewers that being a strong woman doesn’t mean toning down your feminine side (and gave everyone a lesson in how to rock a halter neck).

Another aspect that gave Charmed the magic touch was its stars, who I believe is irreplaceable. Shannen Doherty, Alyssa Milano, and Holly Marie Combs portrayed sisters Prue, Phoebe, and Piper in the first three seasons, and Rose McGowan joined the cast in the fourth season as quirky Paige, replacing Doherty. Not only did they have electric chemistry, these actresses each brought something special to the characters; they were wildly different but equally lovable, hilarious, and, well, charming. They left the male stars in the (Book of) Shadows and I can’t see how any actresses could fill their designer boots.

Lastly, Charmed was entertaining in an often light-hearted, and sometimes-cheesy, way. Its story-a-week format allowed for a plethora of novelty episodes, from traveling back to the 1960s via a pair of crimson go-go boots to Phoebe becoming a mermaid, nobody could ever accuse the show of being boring and these wacky stories prevented it from becoming too moody, a gloomy path that many supernatural dramas take nowadays. I fear that the reboot will be too dark and angsty, subduing the fun spirit of the original series.

However, despite my hardcore Wiccan-like worship of the original Charmed, I’ll still be tuning in when the reboot airs and I hope that I will be proven wrong. Its cast is more diverse which is obviously a good thing, and I hope that this modernity, alongside a touch of the traditional Charmed magic, will cast a spell for success that bewitches the world all over again."

Hello everybody,

Project Runway All Stars season 6 ended Thursday night with three beautiful and undoubtedly original collections. The panel of judges had the tough job of deciding among three very talented designers in what they called “a close race,” but in the end, it was Anthony Williams’ passion, vision, and sass that earned him the season 6 All Stars crown. Here, he talks with EW about why winning Project Runway is similar to winning a pageant, the importance of being first, and his future plans. Project Updates: Exclusive Who won ‘Project Runway All Stars’ season 6? Who Will Be The Second And Third Best In This Runway Show?
Posted on 06 Apr 2018
Posted by Admin
Projects icon

Hello everybody,

Atlanta designer Anthony Williams took home the $100,000 prize in a super tight competition to win “Project Runway All Stars” Thursday night. At a watch party he hosted in the main lobby of the W Hotel in Midtown, the crowd screamed in joy when host Alyssa Milano crowned him the winner. The effervescent Anthony hugged and took pictures with his many fans – including his mom. And he convinced not just the two other local contestants – Edmond Newton (fifth place) and Ken Laurence (fourth place) – to show up, but the other two finalists Stanley Hudson and Fabio Costa showed up, too. Stanley came in from Los Angeles. Fabio flew in all the way from Brazil.

"For the first time in “Project Runway” history, the final five were all men of color. And amazingly, three were from Atlanta.

The judges had a tough time picking the best collection during the finale that aired Thursday. All three designers brought their best to the runway and there was barely a negative comment from any of the judges – including actress Catherine Zeta-Jones. In the end, Anthony’s brashness and dramatic final dress won them over.

Fabio, in an interview at the hotel after the show aired, said the judges deliberated behind closed doors for a torturous three-plus hours. What viewers saw was a mere sliver of what was actually said.

How close was it? Milano didn’t bother naming a second and third place winner. Essentially, Fabio and Stanley tied for second.

“I didn’t hear how they made decision but I think Anthony was deserving of the title,” said Ken, who came in fourth. “He took evening wear to a new dimension… He did a lot of dresses the whole season. He did something different for his collection.”

Fabio, who is prepping for Brazil Fashion Week later this month, said after seeing the collections on TV, he believed Anthony earned the victory. “It was the best out of all of us,” he said. He felt that final dress Anthony showed made the difference, when the model turned and the skirt enveloped the whole runway. “That’s the moments we live for,” he said. “The fantasy. You wish you could be there and see that. They made the right choice.”

Stanley, who works in the costuming department for ABC’s “Black-ish,” was just happy to redeem himself from his first trip on “Project Runway” when he felt he wasn’t portrayed in the most positive light. “We all had our stories to tell. They were all distinct,” he said in an interview. “I was extremely happy with what I did.”"
