"Alyssa Milano recently got the all-clear to launch a full-on assault against yet another bastion of male-dominated fan gear: the jersey.
Late last month, Milano’s sports apparel business, Touch By Alyssa Milano, announced that it has received its first licensing agreement with the NFL Players Association. That means Milano and her team can begin creating tops and hoodies bearing players’ names and numbers — offering an alternative to the jersey for the female fan who wants to pledge allegiance to a particular player.
“I’m excited to team up with the NFLPA and continue to offer women more options in the sports-licensed apparel space. This provides fans a great new way to demonstrate passion for their favorite teams and players,” Milano said in a statement.
Milano teamed up with G-III Apparel Group Ltd. to launch her line eight years ago, after she tried to buy fan gear at a Dodgers game and was left massively disappointed by her options.
“I’m really offended by the pink, being a huge sports fan,” Milano said at the Sports Business Journal’s Game Changers conference in New York back in September. “I just didn’t understand why there was nothing in the team colors and everything looked like the cuts were cut for kids.”
Her solution was a fashion-forward line of clothing that uses high-quality fabrics and flattering cuts — and nothing pink. Since she launched, Touch by Alyssa Milano has gotten the licensing for all the major sports leagues and college teams, as well. There are now standalone Touch boutiques in select stadiums, including Citi Field, home to the New York Mets. Milano is expanding the line to include maternity and plus-size apparel."
"From actress, producer, designer Alyssa Milano (Charmed), comes the exciting fourth installement to her comic book from BOOM! Studios/Archaia Entertaiment. Hacktivist Volume 2 #4 is an epic read from by co-writers Colin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing, and artist Marcus To.
As we previously mentioned, in our review of the first and second issue, Nate and Ed are still connected to each other, even though they tried to separate themselves. After faking the death of his best friend, Ed Hiccox, Nate Graft and to pull his life back together. Now in charge of VIGIL, the front line of America's ongoing cyber operations, Nate thought he finally had some peace of mind. Unfortunately, there is a new breed of hackers, calling themselves sve_urs3lf, using Nate and Ed's former handle to commit their terrorist attacks.
In our MStars News interview, Lanzing discussed his newest Grace Decker, "Like Sirine in Volume 1, Grace carries a lot of the moral weight of the story on her shoulders - but unlike Sirine, she is also to some degree an antagonist for Nate and Ed. She's the most morally complicated character in the Hacktivist universe so far and we can't wait to see how fans react to her.
The script by Kelly and Lanzing moves at a brisk pace, especially with its clever twists. After the nail-biting cliff-hanger in the third issue, Nate thought he had met his untimely end. The writers wisely choose to advance the story than provide an explanation to Nate's escape. Layers of Grace's complicated personality begin to peel as a new enemy, worse than sve_urs3lf, begins to rise from the shadows.
The artwork by Marcus To uses crooked angles and extreme close-ups to provide a claustrophobic atmosphere. We get to feel how trapped Grace is when she's cornered by Nate and Ed. Interestingly, the way Nate and Grace look at their computers, it's a"lmost like they're playing chess against each other."
"Costar support! Alyssa Milano found out about her on-screen bestie Danny Pintauro’s HIV confession the same way as the rest of America. When the 39-year-old’s interview with Oprah Winfrey aired late last month, making national headlines, Milano, 42, was completely in the dark.
“It was absolutely heartbreaking,” the new Atkins spokeswoman tells Us Weekly of hearing that her Who’s the Boss? costar has been HIV positive for 12 years. Pintauro recently expressed remorse about his decision not to tell Milano in an exclusive video interview with Us.
“I was in contact with Tony [Danza] and Judith [Light] beforehand, they knew,” Pintauro said of his costars. “So they were already lending their support. I wasn’t in contact with Alyssa [Milano] and I regret that now. I really should have let her know beforehand because she got just as shocked as everybody else.”
Milano had an emotional appearance on The Talk where she lent her full support to Pintauro, and since then the pair have gotten back into each other’s lives.
“Yeah, since being on The Talk we’ve reconnected, which has been awesome. We’ve been texting every day, and I’m very grateful for that, but, you know, also sad that it took this to bring us back together,” Milano tells Us. “When we ended the show there were no cell phones, there were no computers, there was no Internet, so it would have been a more difficult time to keep in touch. But he’s always — all those people from that show are always in my heart, always. They’re a part of me on like a cellular level. You know, and he’s going to do great things now!"
" Yesterday Atkins Nutritionals Inc., the weight loss company, announced that Alyssa Milano is its new spokeswoman. If we take her inaugural blog post at face value, it’s rather endearing. There's an emphasis on healthy eating, learning about nutrition and body positivity.
“The human body is utterly amazing, and I’m so proud of all I have done and achieved with mine — the best thing was having my incredible babies. So I want to take care of my body the best way I know how — by making smart choices,” she writes.
Her goals are to learn about the best way to nourish her family and herself (and OK, she wants to shed those pesky last 10 pounds). We are told that the majority of diets fail. Yet we are also told that excess weight — left unchecked — may lead to a whole host of health ailments.
Ha-ha-ha-ha... sob.
So where does that leave us, the consumer? Stuck between a rock and a scrumptious burrito, I guess. Here’s the thing: I don’t think that means we should stop striving for a healthy life, feeding our body with things that are good for it, being active and mindful.
And Alyssa Milano may be just the right person to lead us there, with her charm and likability. Milano is no stranger to fat-shaming, and it makes me hopeful that, as an Atkins ambassador, she’ll be mindful of her responsibility to those looking to make healthier lifestyle choices.
Yet the reality is that celebrities will continue to be there, endorsing those companies shilling weight loss. My hope is that Milano will inspire people to get more involved in their health, to be proud of their achievements and to strive for ways to keep it healthy and active."
