"It’s very rare that you meet a woman who manages to be inspirational in absolutely everything that she does; from being an actress to being a mother, and then topping it all off by being a business woman. However, that’s exactly what Alyssa Milano has managed to do. Her sport fan fashion brand for women has become an instantly recognizable brand, which Alyssa manages to juggle alongside being a Mom and having a successful TV career. So, what is so special about Alyssa Milano’s Touch brand? And what makes her an inspiration to other women? Let’s take a look.
Alyssa Milano’s Touch Brand
It all started when the actress went to watch a baseball game at the Dodger Stadium, where she went into their store in order to find something warm to wear. What she saw offended her more than anything; it was all pink. It seemed as though the bosses at the sports store had decided all women needed was something pink and smaller than men’s clothing. Alyssa’s only option was to head to the children’s section and buy a Dodger hoodie in blue. It was this experience that gave Alyssa Milano an idea; she knew she could do better that these tiny, pink offerings.
In 2007 she paid for a fashion illustrator to create some designs suitable for women, all in the correct team colors and less ‘crop top style’. With an agent who was friends with someone fairly high up in the marketing sector of Major League Baseball, she was luckily enough to secure some meetings with important executives. They loved it, and it wasn’t long before Alyssa Milano struck a deal with the G-III Apparel Group who also work with Levi and Calvin Klein, along with all the major sports leagues.
Touch was launched and their motto appealed to women all over the globe, “Where the game meets the after party”. Alyssa had a simple idea, she wanted clothing that was fashionable enough for women to wear inside and outside the sports arenas. Her clothing now sells all over the world, from stores in the US and online. However, it wasn’t all plain sailing for Alyssa Milano who found it even more difficult to break into the industry, being a woman."
"It's always big news when a famous mom decides to capture breastfeeding moments with her babies.
So it's no surprise that Alyssa Milano received plenty of attention when she shared a black and white photo of herself feeding daughter Elizabella Dylan this October.
While the actress wasn't necessary "surprised" by the response, she knew she wanted to make a statement.
"I just think it's important for women to feel comfortable feeding their babies wherever," she told E! News at the March of Dimes' Celebration of Babies event. "If we're in public, we shouldn't have to go in the bathroom."
She added, "I don't want to eat in a public bathroom. Why should I feed my baby in a public bathroom?"
Milano, who recently decided to leave her hit TV show Mistresses to focus on her family, also can't seem to understand why photos like hers get so much scrutiny.
"I think it has a lot to do with the sexualization of women's bodies," she shared. "I think it's almost more shocking if you show a picture of the body doing what it's supposed to be doing than a sexy picture of yourself in a bathing suit or something like that. It's just a weird double standard I think."
Perhaps she's talking about Kim Kardashian's Paper magazine shoot, an image she discussed both on Twitter and The Talk.
As a proud mom to two kids, Milano can't help but use her celebrity status to help other babies in need.
While attending the charity event in Beverly Hills, the 41-year-old shared her support for expectant mothers everywhere.
"I have so many friends that gave birth super, super early that their babies needed to be in the NICU and I just can't imagine what that must feel like," she shared. "The fact that March of Dimes supports those parents and those babies is just vital."
And if you're curious to see if the actress wants to post another breastfeeding pic soon, you'll just have to watch the video above and find out."
