Hello everybody,

Alyssa Milano and David Bugliari have a standing date every weekend. “My parents come stay with us so we have help with the babies,” the mother of Milo, 5, and Elizabella, 2, told Us Weekly on Thursday, September 15, at Peloton Cycle in NYC. “They understand the importance of actually spending time with your spouse. It’s what’s kept their 50-year marriage.”

"The Charmed alum, who wed the talent agent in 2009, believes alone time is vital for couples with kids. “You have to be able to still connect on a human level and not just a parental level,” Milano, 43, said. “I’ve watched a lot of my friends struggle with their marriage and I think it’s because they’ve lost that adult connection. You gotta make time for that.”

And it doesn’t have to involve a romantic dinner. “David and I can honestly make a date out of going to Target to do back-to-school shopping,” Milano told Us. “We love to be together and we have fun no matter what we do.”

Just as important: spending one-on-one time with each child. “Elizabella has a mommy-and-me ballet class that we go to,” says the actress. “With Milo, I’m the bench coach for his baseball team. He loves it. I was his bench coach last year, and I said, ‘Do you want me to do this again?’ and he said, ‘Yeah, mom, you have to!’"

Charmed Updates icon

Hello everybody,

I am trying to make something different here with "Charmed Novel" since the page that I am building is still under construction. Let's continue this week with the online novel penned by Diana G. Gallagher, "Mystic Knoll"! Mystic Knoll is the 28th book of Charmed novels. This novel is set between Season 5 episodes "Nymphs Just Wanna Have Fun" and "Oh My Goddess! Part 1". The story takes place during the summer solstice in June.

"Description:

A curse was made, an Innocent born—
To darkness her small life was sworn.
Gather the forces, bring them together—
Save this girl from sadness forever!

All vanquishing and no play makes for tired, grumpy Charmed Ones. Paige decides that what they need is a family getaway, but where to go? She'd love to explore her witch heritage in Salem, but that doesn't sound very relaxing to Phoebe and Piper, who'd rather spend a week on a quiet beach, soaking up the sun. Sensing a sibling showdown, Leo points out that they can do both. They'll spend a day or two in Salem, then the rest of the time on the beautiful Massachusetts coast.

It seems the girls have gotten a break from evil—but late flights and wrong directions conspire to sidetrack the travelers, and they find themselves hungry, exhausted, and nowhere near Salem. They happen upon a bed-and-breakfast run by a crotchety old woman and her strange, shy granddaughter. They're not your typical innkeepers, and soon Piper, Phoebe, and Paige find that nothing in this small town is typical. It's all a little… well… mystical.

It looks like a working holiday for the Charmed Ones! "

Project Updates: Exclusive ‘Project Runway All Stars’ Recaps, Did Ken Laurence Really deserve to be eliminated in ‘History in the Making’?
Posted on 31 Mar 2018

Hello everybody,

He came so close, but Ken Laurence couldn’t quite reach the finish line on “Project Runway All Stars.” In the penultimate episode of the season, “History in the Making,” the designers had to jump through multiple hoops to earn a spot in the finale. In the end Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson and Anthony Williams made it through, while Laurence was left by the wayside. Do you think the judges made the right decision, or did they eliminate the wrong contestant?

"At the start of the episode Laurence thought he’d already made it through to the finale — all the designers did. When visiting the Smithsonian in Washington DC they were told by host Alyssa Milano that their next challenge would be to design a complete six-piece collection for the finale inspired by American history. But after their first day back in the workroom Milano surprised them with some bad news: only three of them would actually get to show their collections. To earn a spot they would need to show the judges a preview of their signature piece, and that would decide who would stay and who would go.

Laurence struggled with his signature look. Mentor Anne Fulenwider had advised him to create a look with enough drama to wow the judges, but Laurence also wanted to be careful not to be so dramatic that his design would look like the dreaded C-word — costumey. He was ultimately praised by Milano for his “impeccable” tailoring. Georgina Chapman loved his proportions. And Isaac Mizrahi thought his pants were the perfect length.

But then came yet another twist: Milano took the contestants into an ominous back room where they would have to complete another design challenge: create a look in just one hour with scraps of fabrics that had been used by the contestants who had been eliminated along the way. So Laurence improvised a black dress that most of the judges seemed to love for its tailoring, polish, and seams. But it still wasn’t quite enough, and the judges decided that they would rather see full collections from Costa, Hudson and Williams."

Project Updates: Exclusive on ‘Project Runway All Stars’ poll results, Sorry, Edmond Newton, but our readers thought it really was your time to go
Posted on 31 Mar 2018

Hello everybody,

Edmond Newton finally won his first design challenge on “Project Runway All Stars” season 6 in episode 10, “Rock Your Face Off,” only to be eliminated the very next week in episode 11, “Nina’s Crushing It.” Did he deserve such a cruel twist of fashion fate? Alas, according to our readers, he did: two-thirds of respondents in our poll (67%) thought he deserved to get the boot. Scroll down to the bottom of this post for our complete poll results.

"Newton seemed unsure of himself in designing for the mountains. He was aiming for a body suit appropriate for the ski slopes, but he ended up with a design that looked more like a wet suit for SCUBA diving. “I think you got tripped up,” said Garcia about Newton’s attempt to interpret the challenge. And host and judge Alyssa Milano thought the ill fit made it look like his model was “packing a penis.”

However, 11% of our readers thought the judges should have sent home Williams for designing safari-wear that the judges thought was underwhelming. Garcia thought his model looked like a nurse, and Milano thought the design resembled “an apron.”

The remaining 22% of our readers thought the eliminated contestant should have been one of the three who weren’t even in the judges’ bottom two: Stanley Hudson, Fabio Costa, or the challenge’s ultimate winner Ken Laurence. So who do you think really had the worst look of the week? Were the judges right to eliminate Newton in fifth place, or did he deserve a spot in the top four?"

Project Updates: Exclusive On Project Runway All Stars New Episode Recap, The 'History in the Making' Sent Another Designer Home!
Posted on 31 Mar 2018

Hello everybody,

Fabio, Anthony, Stanley and Ken, your Project Runway All Stars final four, arrive to D.C. looking sharp and slaying. The edit makes them look glamorous as they enter the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of American History to meet Alyssa. “I’m just overwhelmed to be here. I’m just trying to soak everything in and just trying to enjoy the moment for what it is, because you never know what’s next,” shares designer Fabio during his confessional.

"The Project Runway All Stars host drops some knowledge about the Smithsonian before telling the designers that their final challenge (YES, you read that right) is about making their own mark in American fashion history, by creating a six piece collection.

Everyone is shocked, including myself, but it is Anthony (of course) who steals the moment. He is literally freaking out, “this is the challenge that determines who wins the whole entire situation,” he says.

But wait – Alyssa continues to snatch the designers wigs with more details about the final challenge: instead of shopping at Mood the designers will be spending their $2000 budget at the warehouse where Mood gets its fabrics. But the Fab Four only have one week to complete their mini collection. All Stars did not come to play this season and I am ready for it. Before Alyssa makes her exit she tells the designers that their models are here for their casting, on the roof of the museum. This smells a little fishy to me, I feel a twist coming our way.

The Fab Four start to sketch their mini collection as their make their way through the museum and gag and awe at the American flag, the First Lady dresses and of course Dorothy’s red slippers. Anthony describes his collection as “Audrey Hepburn lived long enough to become Rihanna.” Girl, this is the fashion collection the world didn’t know it needed.

Turns out the rooftop model casting was just that, a model casting – oh well. The designers head to the Mood warehouse to find their textiles. They are all taken aback by the amount of fabrics they have to choose from, there’s almost too much to look at. Finally the designers head back to the workroom and they are met with bigger work areas and even rolling racks, which apparently are a big deal because they all freak out about them.

All four of the designers are talented, no doubt, which is always the case on Project Runway All Stars. In this case the final four are exceptionally good at what they do, so you know the collections are going to be exciting, fresh and nearly perfect. Watching the episode one can almost feel the pride and happiness these four designers exhumed from making it this far.

“I want to win because who wouldn’t want to be the firs gay black man to win some part of the Project Runway brand. Have you lost your mind?” Anthony says during his confessional. “Everybody wants to be the first something.”

As the first day of the challenge comes to an end Stanley shares that he’s been thinking a lot about Willi Smith, “because this is sort of a defining moment for me.” For those who don’t know who Smith is Stanley explains it like this:

“A black American designer and he plays a big part of who I am as a designer.” Smith was known for pioneering ‘street couture,’ designing affordable ‘outsized and colorful’ clothes for ordinary men and women ‘that also appealed to the wealthy and famous.’ Smith died in 1987 at the age of 39 due to AIDS complications.

As the four designers walk into the workroom for day two of the challenge they are surprised to find Alyssa waiting for them, with a smirk on her face. The first thing she tells them, “expect the unexpected,” and then proceeds to reveal a major twist in the competition. The final four must showcase a signature look during an exclusive presentation.

A panel of judges will provide feedback and ultimately decide which three designers will get to show their final collection. Oh, one more thing – the designers have one day to finish their signature look. The competition just got real and ladies and gentlemen Project Runway gets to keep its reality TV crown."

New Appearance: Exclusive Alyssa Milano And March For Our Lives Protesters In Their Own Words Via Guardian!
Posted on 25 Mar 2018

Appearances icon

Hello everybody,

The Guardian spoke to some of those taking part in the Washington march – and asked what prompted them to protest. Marchers descended on Washington DC from around the US to call for gun reform in the March for Our Lives demonstrations. Lois Beckett spoke to some of those taking part.

"“We haven’t forgotten what happened in Sandy Hook and Columbine and Virginia Tech. Those things happened a long time ago, and people tried putting them in the back of their minds, but we’re showing here that we haven’t forgotten about any of that,” said Ruqaiyah.

The shooting that first affected her directly was Sandy Hook, she said. “I was very young,” she said. “I was nervous, I didn’t really understand what it was about. I remember being afraid.”

For Amanah, it was “when it happened here”. There was a school shooting nearby in Marylandlast week.

The father and daughter came to Washington to show their support for the Parkland students, and to advocate for a ban on assault weapons.

“I think the second amendment needs to be repealed and amended. I don’t think the right to own a gun should be unlimited,” Steve Craig said.

Maddie Craig said she thought social media had changed the gun control debate, allowing students to speak directly to each other and share their experiences. “For Columbine, there wasn’t that social media presence.” Now, she said, “you can hear every student’s opinion. There’s a lot more awareness of what’s going on across America.” "

Project Updates: See who stayed sweet and who got crushed on next Project Runway All Stars season 6 episode 11
Posted on 24 Mar 2018
Posted by Admin
Projects icon

Hello everybody,

Project Runway All Stars Season 6 episode 11 features resort wear based on the app Candy Crush. But, did any designer crush it? With only five designers left on Project Runway All Stars, the designers really need to impress the judges. Drab colors, repetitive designs and uninspired looks will get the judges’ wrath. On Project Runway All Stars season 6 episode 11, the designers seemed to have gotten crushed by their latest challenge.

"This week’s Project Runway All Stars featured resort wear. As everyone thinks about a relaxing vacation, resort wear has a luxurious ease. Whether someone goes to the beach, mountains or a safari, the clothes need to impress. While a fashionable person wants a good design, they don’t want to wear overly fussy clothes while on vacation.

Since the resort is as much a state of mind as it is a location, the look needs to convey that resort ease. Ease doesn’t mean frumpy nor does it mean a huge tent. Throw into the mix the Candy Crush lands as inspiration, and the designers could be crushed by the judges’ critiques.

Even before the resort wear looks hit the runway, the designers’ looks had a lot of similarities. Three designers had pants paired with a flowy top or dress. While these designers tried to impress with carefully tailored pants, the similarities created instant comparisons.

Anthony’s look was inspired by a safari. While safari clothes are often muted khaki or neutrals, we have to remember, this challenge was inspired by Candy Crush. His all-white look had no color but still referenced the game through the eyelet fabric. He took a risk, but it didn’t pay off enough."

Project Updates: Exclusive What's New About Wen Haircare Endorsed By Alyssa Milano? WEN Case Spurs Call for Beauty Product Regs!
Posted on 24 Mar 2018
Posted by Admin
Projects icon

Hello everybody,

Despite tens of thousands of complaints about its cleansing conditioner for hair, an FDA investigation, and a $26 million payout to affected consumers, WEN by Chaz Dean and its parent company are still selling that product online and through QVC.

"Two retailers of makeup geared to teens, on the other hand, voluntarily pulled their products from their shelves after a parent paid to have the products tested and found that eye shadows and face powder contained traces of asbestos, which causes cancer.

Why the difference? Companies that make or sell beauty and personal care products can choose how to respond to consumer complaints, lawsuits, and government warnings -- something lawmakers in Congress are hoping to change.

“There is no other class of products so widely used in the United States with so little regulation,” wrote Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-California) and Susan Collins (R-Maine) in an article published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) on Tuesday.

The FDA, which regulates drugs and food, is hamstrung when it comes to products like dietary supplements and cosmetics, a $62 billion industry. The agency can send warning letters and inspect manufacturing and distribution facilities. But it does not have the authority to recall products. The retailers and manufacturers can decide what they want to do."

Project Updates: Exclusive On ‘Project Runway All Stars’ Recap: Insight ‘Nina’s Crushing It,’ But Did The Designers Get Crushed?
Posted on 24 Mar 2018
Posted by Admin
Projects icon

Hello everybody,

There have been unusual design inspirations on “Project Runway” before. Just this season on “All Stars” the contestants have distressed their looks with razors and blowtorches, made ball gowns out of literal balls, and even designed a look for cartoon character Betty Boop. So naturally in episode 11, “Nina’s Crushing It,” it was time for the designers to apply their skills to resort wear inspired by the “Candy Crush Saga” mobile video game. So how did Edmond Newton, Stanley Hudson, Fabio Costa, Ken Laurence and Anthony Williams do on the road to the finale on April 5?

"The pressure on the final five designers was high enough given the high level of competition this late in the game — all of them had won at least one design challenge up to this point. But this week they also had to impress guest judge Nina Garcia, the fashion director for Marie Claire magazine and a regular judge in the original “Project Runway” series.

Garcia and fellow guest Kelly Osbourne joined the regular panelists Georgina Chapman, Isaac Mizrahi and host Alyssa Milano to evaluate the designs.

Going into Thursday night’s episode Stanley had won three design challenges, more than any other contestant up to that point, and he was the front-runner to win the season according to the latest predictions of Gold Derby users who entered their picks in our predictions center. Edmond and Ken had only won one challenge apiece, so our users thought they were at greatest risk of elimination. Were we right?

There are three high scores and two low scores in this week’s challenge. Stanley is safe with scores that put him through to the next round. The challenge winner is Ken, which means Fabio is the runner-up. This is Ken’s second win of the season and his first solo victory. Well deserved!"

Project Updates: Exclusive More On Project Runway All Stars Recap: 'Nina's Crushing It' What Really Happen In The Episode?
Posted on 24 Mar 2018

Projects icon

Hello everybody,

We’re down to the top five designers on Project Runway All Stars season 6, and although it is an all-male competition at this point — Anthony, Edmond, Stanley, Fabio, and Ken (R.I.P. Helen) — I’m not too mad about it. We meet the remaining designers in the most traditional Project Runway set-up: the runway. I almost wish all episodes started here; it’s iconic and familiar.

"Alyssa appears from backstage dressed in a cute green dress that looks great on her. All five designers gasp and agree that the host is rocking her look — props to her stylist (and my prayers, TBH). She asks the designers to explain their experience on All Stars, and Anthony sums it up for all of them, saying, “Project Runway is where you find out who you are as a designer, and Project Runway All Stars is where you show who you are as a designer.” Amen, an answer fit for a future All Stars winner.

Alyssa then welcomes a Project Runway OG, and personal hero, Nina Garcia. The designers feel her presence even before she steps on the runway. She’s known for her keen eye and straightforward advice, so I know the designers are going to step it up for Nina.

Nina delivers an eloquent li’l speech about gaming and fashion, and Alyssa tells the designers that this week, All Stars is teaming up with Candy Crush — yes, the addictve game app — for the challenge. Yonna Ingolf, a designer for Candy Crush, talks about the worlds of the game, and Nina reveals that the challenge is to create resort looks inspired by a land within that world. The budget is $200, and of course they have one day. Yonna reveals that the winning designer will also have the chance to collaborate with King, the company behind the app, for an exclusive fashion design. I’m not sure what the point of that award is, but go off.

The designers head to the workroom for some competition. They must play one level of Candy Crush, and the person with the highest score gets to choose their inspiration land first. Ken beats everyone and picks Brûlée Bay (beach resort wear) as his inspiration. Fabio goes for Taffy Tropics (tropical resort), Stanley gets Lemonade Lake (lakeside resort), Anthony picks Sticky Savannah (safari resort), and last but absolutely least, Edmond gets stuck with Marshmallow Mountain (mountain resort?). The five designers get to sketching and then head straight to Mood to hunt for fabrics."
