New Article: Exclusive Alyssa Milano, News media continues to normalize Trump!

Hello everybody,

Actress Alyssa Milano in an interview that aired Thursday on "Rising" said the news media has normalized President Trump throughout his campaign and the first half of his presidency instead of pointing out events she calls "crazy."

""The media actually normalized some of what he did, and continues to normalize it instead of going ‘Can you believe how crazy this is? This guy wants to do this,' " Milano, a frequent critic of Trump, said to Hill.TV's Buck Sexton on Tuesday.

Sexton noted that some in the media would probably say they have tried to “raise as many alarms as they can.”

“I would wonder if you were to have this conversation with any number of White House correspondents or major news anchors, other than at one channel that I’m sure you could guess, you would probably have a lot of folks saying they’re doing everything that they can to raise as many alarms as they can," Sexton said.

Milano pushed back on that assertion, saying she does not think the media has done “enough.”

“I don’t think it’s enough, and I don’t think it was enough when he was campaigning," Milano replied. "I think that we coddled this idea of a man who has been a self-proclaimed pussy grabber.

"During this time, instead of calling it what it was, which was total and crazy bullshit that this guy would actually be allowed to be the leader of the greatest country on the planet, the most powerful country on the planet, the fact that instead of news media going ‘This is just crazy,’ they reported it like it was normal, so it completely normalized the entire thing. We looked at it like ‘This is entertaining. This is getting us ratings.’”

Trump has maintained a contentious relationship with many outlets, frequently slamming CNN and The New York Times for what he says is unfair coverage of him and his administration.

The president stepped up his attacks on CNN on Wednesday, saying the network "is being torn apart from within based on their being caught in a major lie and refusing to admit the mistake" over a story on the 2016 Trump Tower meeting.

CNN fired back in a statement, saying the network does not lie."

New Article: Alyssa Milano on Parenting, Fandom, and Why She's Not Afraid to Get Political!

Hello everybody,

If you follow Alyssa Milano on Twitter, you know that the actress is NOT afraid to dive into politics. (See: "Those that tell me not to tweet politics because I'm an uninformed celebrity are the same people that voted for ... an uninformed celebrity.")

"Why? Because she's a mom (to Milo, 5, and Elizabella, 2), Milano told InStyle. "I just want my kids to be in a place that’s not terrifying." Milano will be first in line to admit she doesn't always balance motherhood and the other dozen projects she's working on as smoothly as it might appear ("It's f—ing scary," she says of parenting). But ultimately, the juggling act is all in service of Milano's ultimate goal—to be a stay-at-home mom when her kids are teenagers so she can be there to "read their diaries," she said, laughing.

InStyle caught up with the mom/actress/fashion entrepreneur/TV host/judge/author about keeping all those balls in the air, including her role on Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later and her sports fashion line Touch by Alyssa Milano's new fall collection, which launched last week at Macy's Herald Square and partners with NFL to offer stylish alternatives to the fan tees you might normally find in stadiums.

Read on for Milano's expert-worthy self-care tips, why she was so happy that Adam Scott replaced Bradley Cooper in Wet Hot, and why she thinks it's essential to speak out politically—even if it gets you threats. "

Hello everybody,

Alyssa Milano is speaking out about the sexual assault allegations against Asia Argento. The 45-year-old actress shared her thoughts during a sit-down interview with ABC News.

""People that have been abused can also be abusers, and that's a sad fact," she said during the interview, which aired on Thursday's episode of Good Morning America.

Earlier this week, The New York Times published a report claiming Argento had agreed to pay Jimmy Bennett $380,000 after his attorney sent her a notice of intent to sue alleging she had sexually assaulted the former child actor when he was 17 years old. The report was based on documents the newspaper received in an encrypted email from an unidentified party.

Argento "strongly" denied "the contents of The New York Times article" and said she "never had any sexual relationship with Bennett." However, the newspaper stood by its reporting.

After her denial, TMZ shared an alleged text exchange between Argento and a "friend," in which Argento seemingly confessed to having sex with Bennett while he was a minor. However, E! News has not verified the validity of the texts.

TMZ also shared a photo of Argento and Bennett in which they appeared to be shirtless and resting their heads against a pillow.

Argento's attorney did not return TMZ's or E! News' request for comment."

New Article: Exclusive Alyssa Milano to Receive GLAAD’s Inaugural Ariadne Getty Ally Award!
Posted on 31 Aug 2018

Appearances icon

#MeToo advocate and actress Alyssa Milano will be honored with GLAAD’s inaugural Ariadne Getty Ally Award at the GLAAD Gala in San Francisco on Sept. 15.The Ariadne Getty Ally Award is presented to an LGBTQ ally who uses their voice and public platform to accelerate and affect acceptance for the LGBTQ community. The award is named after philanthropist Ariadne Getty, a member of GLAAD’s board of directors who announced a $15 million gift to support GLAAD’s work to accelerate LGBTQ acceptance at the 2018 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland.

"In addition to work for #MeToo, Milano has raised awareness around ending HIV and AIDS, was a vocal supporter of marriage equality, and uses social media to amplify the voices of LGBTQ people. She joined GLAAD for a rally in Times Square protesting a proposed ban on transgender Americans in the military and used her website, PatriotNotPartisan, to share the stories of Laila Ireland, a transgender veteran.

“I’m so honored to receive this award,” Milano told Variety exclusively. “I have long admired the work that GLAAD does day in and day out to advance the interests of the LGBTQI community so receiving this award from them really means a lot to me.”

Milano was an outspoken supporter of passing marriage equality, appeared as a judge on “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” and stood with LGBTQ youth and against bullying by participating in Spirit Day. She is a UNICEF National Ambassador and testified before Congress on behalf of an Equal Rights Amendment that would write anti-discrimination into the U.S. Constitution. Most recently, she released a video speaking out against the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, citing threats to LGBTQ and women’s rights.

Veteran journalist Emil Wilbekin will receive the Ric Weiland Award for growing LGBTQ inclusion in tech. The award honors innovators who advance LGBTQ equality and acceptance through tech and new media. Wilbekin has long worked to change the way that black gay men are perceived and received in the media by bringing LGBTQ stories to the forefront through his work as editor-in-chief of Vibe and editor-at-large of Essence.

“I am grateful to GLAAD for honoring me with the Ric Weiland Award,” Wilbekin told Variety. “It is critical that LGBTQ people of color are involved, engaged, and empowered in tech. It’s an issue of equality. There must be diversity in creating technology and the platforms that amplify our narratives and process our data. We must have a seat at the table.”

The event, hosted by “Will & Grace” actor Leslie Jordan, will feature “Pose”‘s Mj Rodriguez, “RuPaul’s Drag Race” stars Ross Mathews and Michelle Visage, tech journalist Ina Fried, and transgender pop star Kim Petras.

GLAAD Gala San Francisco, which will take place at Hyatt Regency San Francisco, celebrates and features storytellers and tech innovators who accelerate LGBTQ acceptance and helps fund GLAAD’s digital advocacy work to grow LGBTQ inclusion in digital and social media."

Charmed Updates: Exclusive Experience The Power Of Three With Our Special Charmed Binge Guide

Charmed Updates icon

Hello everybody,

Everyone loves a witchy story, especially if you're someone who grew up in the late '90s/early '00s on high doses of Sabrina the Teenage Witch and movies like The Craft and Practical Magic. If you were in junior high at the perfect time, then you got all of these things at once, and Charmed was everything you loved about magic, teen drama, sisterhood, and that specific kind of high school new age Wicca that was a little bit hippy and a lot Hot Topic mall goth who definitely got their ears pierced at Claire's boutique two stores down.

"Despite its very dated wardrobe and view of technology, Charmed was a series both ahead of its time and exactly of its time. It fed on the fires stoked by Buffy the Vampire Slayer and brought a different kind of sensibility to the world of magic and the supernatural. Charmed was all about the power of women, about uniting three sisters with disparate personalities to fight against the forces of darkness and, yes, sometimes the patriarchy.

The series has officially turned 20 years old this year (and will be getting the reboot treatment in the fall), so we thought this would be the best time for a rewatch. To facilitate this journey through eight seasons of witchy adventures, though, we've assembled this binge guide, which will help you find those episodes which best follow the core relationship of this romance-heavy show: that of the Charmed Ones."

Shadow of the Sphinx is the 16th book of the Charmed novels and is written by Carla Jablonski. "Description:

Shifting sands, eternal dust,
unending time moves as it must.
But ancient wisdom works through me,
time is mine—where e'er I be.

Paige Matthews is having a minor identity crisis. She is slowly but surely embracing her long lost sisters' witchy ways, but she doesn't want to overstep her boundaries. After all, she wouldn't ever want to replace Prue Halliwell—even if she could. So Paige considers it a stroke of luck when, one day, her experiments with magic turn her into a cat. Who knew she had a knack for shape-shifting?

One problem: She can't shift herself back. Her sisters inadvertently betray her when they deposit her at a local animal shelter. Suddenly she finds herself the familiar of a cult that worships ancient Egyptian deities, and is catapulted into ancient Egypt! Piper and Phoebe discover the identity of the stray cat and rally a rescue mission, only to discover another cat-woman, also entrapped within a fortress-like sphinx.

This kitty is one feline femme fatale, and the sisters are going to have to put human heads together to defeat her!"

Charmed Updates: A Man Has Stolen The Book Of Shadows And All The Cast Of ‘Charmed’ Want It Back
Posted on 29 Aug 2018
Posted by Admin
Charmed Updates icon

Hello everybody,

In a story weirdly reminiscent of a plot from the cult TV show Charmed, disgraced CBS executive Brad Kern has reportedly stolen the witches book of spells, the Book Of Shadows. And the sisters three want it back. Brad Kern is the showrunner on NCIS: New Orleans, and over the past year has been hit with a spree of allegations of sexual harassment, discrimination, and creating a hostile work environment with offensive comments about women and people of colour.

"But before he worked on actively making NCIS an allegedly horrible place, he was the showrunner on Charmed. And when the show finished, he allegedly stole the Book Of Shadows.

He seems like precisely the kinda guy who SHOULDN’T be holding on to the repository of magic usually held in care by a trio of feminist witches. Feels particularly egregious in this time of blood moons, mysterious sarcophagi and undead polar worms.

According to Charmed actress Holly Marie Combs, Kern took the prop at the end of the show, with the intention of sharing custody of it. She’s now calling on him to auction the book and donate the proceeds to a women’s charity.

Alyssa Milano, another of the Charmed sisters is also joining the call to have the book returned.

“The original Book of Shadows was promised to Holly,” she told The Cut in an interview. “Brad is being investigated for sexual harassment, so if he’s not giving it to Holly, he should auction the Book of Shadows off and give the proceeds to Tarana Burke’s #MeToo Foundation.”

The Book Of Shadows in the show was very literally a tool of female empowerment, so it does rankle to think of it in the hands of the kind of dude it was crafted to help fight against.

Let’s hope it does get auctioned off and find its way to some new witchy sisters who will use it to smite male showrunners. Maybe even the proposed reboot will grab it?"

Project Updates: Exclusive About Skinny Is Not Magic, But True, Really I Still Appreciated Insatiable!
Posted on 28 Aug 2018
Posted by Admin
Projects icon

Hello everybody,

Earlier this month, Netflix dropped all 12 episodes of its new show Insatiable. Since its release, the dark comedy from producer Lauren Gussis, featuring former Disney Channel star Debby Ryan and Alyssa Milano, has been widely panned by critics, receiving a sad 10 percent approval on Rotten Tomatoes. Vulture’s Jen Chaney wrote that Insatiable is an “utter disaster.”

"Even before its debut, Insatiable was already a social-media lightning rod. When Netflix released a 90-second trailer, which showed Ryan in a fat suit and presented the show as a Cinderella weight-loss story meets Heathers, a swift and massive backlash ensued. A petition urging Netflix not to air Insatiable, due to perceived fat shaming and fat-phobic stereotypes, gathered over 200,000 signatures.

As a fat woman and someone who writes frequently on the topics of weight, body image, and body positivity, I was curious to see if the content of the show would truly merit the scope of that overwhelmingly negative reaction. Because much of the criticism has focused on potential damage to young people, I watched all 12 episodes of Insatiable with my teen daughter.

When we got to episode five, my daughter said, “I actually really like this.”

“But what is this?” I responded.

It’s not just a weight-loss story. It’s not just a revenge story. It’s not even exactly about rage.

Insatiable has three main plotlines. The first follows Patty Bladell (Ryan), a fat teenager who has her jaw wired shut following an attack in a parking lot and returns to school after a 70-pound weight loss. Patty feels like a loser, but wants to be a winner. Second, there’s Bob Armstrong (Dallas Roberts), a lawyer who dreams of being a successful beauty-pageant coach. Finally, Coralee Armstrong (Milano) is a trashy teen turned southern socialite who longs to join the Junior League.

Although Insatiable does offer some flawed characters filled with rage and revenge, the show is about personal desire. It’s about how the things we think we want can change us, and about what happens when we don’t like the people we become. Gussis told The Hollywood Reporter, “I wanted to tell, in theory, a story where the characters’ desires are deeply rooted in real human emotion, but the things that happen are so crazy that it’s less scary to have a conversation when you know you’re in a world that isn’t quite reality.”

But does Insatiable fat-shame Patty? In my view as a fat woman, no. The show puts a great deal of care into handling that aspect of the story. Patty’s body-image issues are treated with compassion and the character consistently explores the difference between internal and external beauty. Debby Ryan is charming and there were times when her performance really spoke to me and addressed some of the experiences I had as a fat teenager. I, too, sometimes felt that fate had cast me as a loser when I desperately wanted to be a winner.

Is Insatiable perfect in that respect? No. Early in the series, Bob Armstrong announces, “Skinny is magic.” The show has a very conflicted relationship with that statement, sometimes demonstrating how it appears to be true and sometimes exploring how it’s really not. In early episodes, Patty is able to leverage her thin body into an acquittal in the trial concerning her fight with a homeless man. She gains the attention of the school’s hottie, Christian (James Lastovic), and becomes a serious contender in the town’s local beauty pageant, Miss Magic Jesus. But Patty’s relationship with Christian is terrible and terrifying. Her newfound obsession with beauty pageants destroys her life and her preoccupation with revenge causes major damage to her relationship with her best friend, Nonnie (Kimmy Shields).

That conflict — the idea that skinny magic delivers superficial rewards while not necessarily making the ultra-thin and beautiful any happier than the rest of us — isn’t of the show’s making, of course. We’re living in a time when a very dominant part of culture still prizes small female bodies. Overweight women earn less money and are more likely to work in physically demanding jobs. Onscreen, successful fat actresses are few and far between. The body-positive and fat-positive communities are pushing back, and some of that resistance comes in the form of wanting to eliminate stories of people dealing with weight-loss or weight-management issues. Writing for The Guardian, Sofie Hagen spoke for many people in the fat-positive community when she said, “Let’s see a happy fatty.”"

Project Updates: Exclusive “Insatiable” Perpetuates Fat-Shaming And Jokes About Pedophilia!
Posted on 28 Aug 2018
Posted by Admin
Projects icon

Hello everybody,

Since Netflix first began releasing trailers for its new show Insatiable, cast members like Debby Ryan and Alyssa Milano have made desperate attempts to defend it against the overwhelming amount of critiques it’s gotten, saying that it’s actually meant to highlight the negative impact of fat-shaming rather than perpetuate it. “Look at the show as a satirical look at what could happen if you’re fat-shamed, if you are bullied,” Milano said on Good Morning America, “and I really think that it’s about appearances and what happens within our interactions with our appearances.”

"As much as I hate to admit it, she is right about a few things. The show certainly centers around appearances and how people act and react based on them. And the show’s satirical nature does become apparent the longer one watches it — if they can make it past the first episode, that is.

It begins with Patty — Debby Ryan — describing her struggles with weight since the age of eight. Mere seconds into the pilot episode we see the kind of torment she’s subjected to at school, as her peers call her names like “Fatty Patty” and compare her to a pig. This leads to nights spent severely binge-eating with her best friend Nonnie, and watching Drew Barrymore movies on repeat. We’re then introduced to Bob Armstrong — Dallas Roberts — a well-off lawyer who had the perfect family and life until he was falsely accused of child molestation of a teenage beauty pageant contestant. So as far as pilot episodes go, Insatiable definitely went zero to 100 real quick.

Not only does Insatiable perpetuate body-shaming, reduce women to their looks and joke about child molestation, but it completely dehumanizes homeless people as well.

The classic comedic trope of having a thin person wear a fat suit has been done and redone so many times before it’s actually exhausting. While people once considered it hilarious, many of us now recognize the negative impact this trope has on actual people who are overweight or obese and struggle with seeing their body type mocked by popular media.

One of the craziest things about Insatiable is it also implies that it’s rare to be overweight, although this is entirely untrue. We don’t get to see any other overweight people in the show besides “Fatty Patty”—in the pilot episode at least—and it seems as though the world is made up of nothing but model-esq beauties. Not only that, but a large plot hole in the pilot occurs when, after Patty loses weight from having her jaw wired shut for three months and being on a liquid diet, she doesn’t appear to struggle with cravings or binge-eating at all. As if being fed only liquids for 12 weeks was enough for her to quit wanting actual solid foods. These unrealistic portrayals of weight-loss and body representation are just one reason why the show is so difficult to watch.

As if that isn’t enough, Bob’s struggle with child molestation accusations are clearly meant to be funny but are just the opposite. Several jokes about the accusations are made when Patty falls in love with him and hopes to seduce him because of his reputation around younger girls. Later on in the pilot episode, there’s even almost a scene involving statutory rape, but it doesn’t follow through. Yet the show makes a clear mockery of child molestation accusations and inappropriate relationships between young girls and grown men, in a way normalizing and reducing the severity of it.

While this show may have some redeeming qualities in terms of satirical content, most of it is just too cringe-worthy to watch. However, the show is still currently trending on Netflix and may even be brought back for a season two."

New Article: Exclusive where Alyssa Milano in Woodbridge urging Virginia legislators to approve women’s rights amendment!

Appearances icon

Hello everybody,

Alyssa Milano dusted off her acting skills in a new video slamming President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh. The anti-gun activist, currently starring in the controversial Netflix series “Insatiable,” was quickly shredded on Twitter after warning viewers that Kavanaugh “will hurt us” and urging people to “bang down” their senators’ doors in an effort to stop his confirmation.

"Milano spoke about banning assault rifles, immigration reform and abortion rights in the video produced by NowThis Opinions, over-dramatically speaking as Kavanaugh’s supposed victims.

“I was one of 17 people who died in that school on that day,” Milano said, speaking as Joaquin Oliver, a student who was killed during the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school.

“In six minutes, the shooter used an AR-15 to kill 14 students and three staff members,” Milano said. “These weapons have no place in the hands of private citizens. These weapons should be banned. Brett Kavanaugh does not agree.”

The 45-year-old liberal then spoke on behalf of Jane Doe, a 17-year-old pregnant woman, allegedly apprehended on the border for attempting to illegally enter the U.S., and expecting American taxpayers to fund her abortion.

“The Trump administration tried to stop me. Brett Kavanaugh tried to stop me,” Milano said.

She turned up the emotional performance, speaking on behalf of other ‘victims’ like those who supposedly depend on the Affordable Care Act for health care coverage and will face death without it.

“We know what will happen because Brett Kavanaugh has shown us what will happen,” the actress opined. “Brett Kavanaugh will hurt us.”

“What will happen when Brett Kavanaugh becomes the majority?” Milano asked. “We know what will happen to women, to immigrants, to workers, to voters, to people with pre-existing conditions, to children with disabilities, to parent who worry about whether their kids will come home from school alive.”

“We have to call our senators. It’s not a done deal so we have to bang down their doors and share our stories,” she said in the video which she shared on Twitter, repeating that Kavanaugh’s confirmation will only “help Trump” in the end."

Project Updates: Insatiable stars Alyssa Milano and Debby Ryan hit back as critics slate Netflix’s ‘offensive mess’ of a show!

Hello everybody,

Insatiable has unarguably kicked off on the rockiest road imaginable before even arriving on Netflix today, but stars Debby Ryan and Alyssa Milano have leapt to the show’s defence and they are not here for the backlash before anyone has actually watched a single episode.

"The controversial dramedy follows Patty, or ‘fatty Patty’ as she’s been dubbed by her classmates, whose life takes a surprising turn when a homeless man punches her in the face and she’s forced to spend her summer eating her meals through a straw.

After weeks on a liquid diet, she returns to school slimmer, though fans and critics alike have slammed Insatiable for suggesting that by slimmer the show really wants to say ‘improved’. Naturally, the show was immediately met with accusations of ‘fat-shaming’ while an online petition campaigning to ban

Insatiable broke through 230,000 signatures and counting. However, Milano – who stars as Coralee – has urged viewers to follow the show’s underlying message – don’t judge a book by its cover, or in this case, trailer."

Hello everybody,

The sexual assault allegations that have emerged against prominent #MeToo leader Asia Argento only prove that the movement is "still strong and swelling," according to Alyssa Milano. "In my view, it just means that the #MeToo movement is still strong and swelling, the fact that people are still coming forward, and still holding people accountable for their actions, whether that be a male predator or a female predator," the actress and activist told "Good Morning America."

Let's continue this week with the online novel penned by Jeff Mariotte from the "Charmed" universe, "Mirror Image"! Mirror Image is the 19th book in the novel series and is written by Jeff Mariotte. This novel is set between Season 4 Episode 8 "Black as Cole" and Episode 10 "A Paige from the Past" as Cole is human, but he and Phoebe are not yet engaged.

"Description:

Mirror, mirror, on the wall
poised is she, to take the fall,
as mist and fog I travel through
a demon's will, this binding shall endure.

Phoebe Halliwell is stunned when her latest vision involves her younger half sister, Paige. The vision reveals to her that Paige is actually an imposter who will infiltrate the Power of Three and break it apart. However, Piper is dismissive when she learns of Phoebe's concerns—so much so that Cole and Leo end up taking sides as well. Before long, all involved are on edge.

Paige senses that her sisters are acting strangely around her, so when she meets Timothy McBride, an attractive young stranger who purports to be a witch, she decides not to tell them. She wants to have something of her own, separate from her Charmed duties. Secrets are estranging the sisters from one another, and the timing isn't good.
