Project Updates: Alyssa Milano, Sexual assault survivors will continue to speak out
Posted on 06 Sep 2018

Hello everybody,

Alyssa Milano asserted that the #MeToo movement is far from over, and predicts that sexual assault survivors will continue to come forward. “The amount of people that have come forward to tell their stories – whether it be a female or a male – has not dwindled at all and I think that that’s really powerful because it means we’re going to continue to tell these stories and not be silenced,” the actress and activist told Hill.TV co-host Buck Sexton in an interview that aired on Tuesday.

"Milano also added that “ultimately we succeed when we hold those accountable for their abuses of power.”

The actress credits the movement’s success to the fact that the initiative has never been about one person and doesn’t have one leader, other than movement founder Tarana Burke.

Burke, who is a sexual assault survivor, first launched the Me Too initiative back in 2006, but Milano is credited with starting the hashtag around that movement that went viral, sparking a global conversation about sexual violence.

This is really a movement for the people and I think that’s why it has been so successful, is that tweet was only a seed planted and everyone else in the world cultivated that seed to actually be somewhat of a forest,” Milano told Hill.TV co-host Buck Sexton.

Milano thinks the movement still has a long way to go, and emphasized the need for both more women and also more diversity in positions of power.

But she said that she’s starting to see policies reflective of the #MeToo movement in her own industry, citing a new code of conduct from the Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) union as just one example. "

Hello everybody,

I am trying to make something different here with "Charmed Novel" since the page that I am building is already online for your viewing. Let's continue this week with the online novel penned by Scott Ciencin from the "Charmed" universe, "High Spirits"! High Spirits is the 39th book in the Charmed novel series. It takes place during the Moon Festival (which is in September) placing it at the beginning of Season 8.

"Description:

She sang her telegram to a Hollywood star—
now he entertains from afar.
Foe to friend, help in our quest
to rid this mansion of an unwanted guest.

The Charmed Ones travel to Hollywood to attend a big bash hosted by Kevin Peterson, Paige's old flame. Kevin is holding the party at his recently purchased mansion, which he was able to afford because of rumors that it's haunted! Sure enough, ghostly goings-on begin almost immediately, but everyone believes that Kevin is the one behind the "haunting." He confides in Paige that he is not.

The ghost reveals himself to be Robert Maxwell, a star of stage and screen who vanished under mysterious circumstances in 1926—right after receiving a singing telegram. A friendly ghost, Maxwell just likes having an audience. But when people start to disappear and the house seals shut, the Charmed Ones realize something evil must also be lurking.

It is only with the able assistance of their ghostly ally that they and the rest of the partygoers stand a chance."

Charmed Updates: The ‘Charmed’ reboot is even worse than I anticipated
Posted on 05 Sep 2018

Charmed Updates icon

Hello everybody,

There’s a new era of Charmed premiering on The CW, but after watching the pilot (and with everything that’s gone on behind-the-scenes), I won’t be watching any more as I don’t believe this series honors the original. I didn’t watch the original Charmed live. It began when I was the young age of two-years-old and was a show that I gradually began to watch at around the age of seven.

"However, over the years, Charmed has become one of the shows, if not the show, I’ve rewatched the most (I’d say, give or take, 20 times). Suffice it to say, I love the Halliwell sisters and continuously enjoy watching the hectic, tragic, demonic adventures in their lives play out on my screen.

Watching Prue, Piper, Phoebe, and eventually Paige deal with the struggle to balance their family and romantic lives and their careers with their witchly duties and a new demon coming after them every month was inspiring. The Halliwells never had it easy, nor would they ever. They were normal, modern women living in this world where it seemed like everyone was out to get them.

I honestly believe Charmed made me a more compassionate, understanding, and hopeful individual. The sisters saved everyone, even those they thought didn’t deserve it, and used their powers to make the world a better place, regardless of race, circumstance, or any other factor. They were genuinely good people, and they had their dark moments, but each found their own way back to the light and continued on their destiny to help people and save the world.

No matter how much time passes, Charmed will always remain relevant in the world, and isn’t that what makes great television? Their personal stories, while intertwined with their witchly world, allowed them to depict the average life of the modern woman and the struggles and triumphs of love, money, and career.

Sure, the graphics make me a bit outdated and their outfits are a travesty at times, but Charmed didn’t need to rely on anything but the lives of the Halliwell women to be successful and reach out to fans at various stages in their lives.

When the Charmed “reboot” was first announced a few years ago, I’ll admit I was not thrilled. It seems like every year there’s been a new attempt to recreate the series, obviously to replicate the success of the original in a Hollywood world full of lacking original content. Each year, it has failed, but this latest attempt managed to earn a season order, though not without a shadow of disrespect to the original."

Hello everybody,

I am trying to make something different here with "Charmed Novel" since the page that I am building is already online for your viewing. Let's continue this week with the online novel penned by various authors from the "Charmed" universe, "Seasons Of The Witch Vol.1"! Fall, winter and spring are the settings for three stories with each of the three witches, Phoebe, Paige and Piper, as the protagonist. The book was released on October 1, 2003.

"The Witching Hours

Samhain: 10/31, or Halloween—traditionally a time to reflect, a time of divination, and a time to honor the ancients. But Phoebe's plans to communicate with her ancestors are cut short when she's recruited to help reunite a star-crossed, magical couple.

Yule: 12/22, or the winter solstice, and the longest night of the year. And when Paige enters an all-night party at a local club, she finds herself at the center of an evil plot to bring about permanent midnight.

Imbolc: 2/1, a time when the earliest hopes for spring are fostered and seeds are planted for dreams of the coming summer months. But Piper can't look toward the future—and having children with Leo—when her half-whitelighter, half-witch sister's powers are on the fritz. Is a hybrid baby destined for doom?"

Charmed Updates: Exclusive As Alyssa Milano Shares All Her Thoughts on New 'Charmed' Reboot: 'I Wish They Would've Come to Us' (Exclusive)
Posted on 01 Sep 2018
Posted by Admin
Charmed Updates icon

Hello everybody,

Alyssa Milano is sharing her thoughts on the Charmed reboot. The 45-year-old actress is the latest alum to comment on the upcoming CW reboot, telling ET's Leanne Aguilera at the Los Angeles premiere of her Netflix series, Insatiable, on Friday that she wished plans for the revival would've been executed differently.

"I wish that they would have come to us and we would have been involved since the beginning," Milano told ET. "But having said that, I do hope that it reaches the newer generation and impacts that generation the way ours was able to do for its generation."

"When asked if she would be interested in making a cameo or directing one of the reboot's episode, Milano quickly shot down the idea.

"I don't think so," she replied. "I think that that ship has sailed for me."

The CW officially picked up the "fierce, funny, feminist" (as they described it) reboot for the fall season in May after announcing the series last year.

Shannen Doherty, who starred in the first three seasons of the original, weighed in on the CW's description in January of this year, calling it "offensive." "Perhaps with the backlash they will be more thoughtful in the future," she tweeted, adding, "I love Charmed. I also want it to be respected. I’m simply choosing to be constructive about it because negativity has no place in my life."

Additionally, Holly Marie Combs, who played Piper Halliwell on the show, which ran on The WB from 1998-2006, slammed the project. “I appreciate the jobs and opportunities the Charmed reboot has created. But I will never understand what is fierce, funny, or feminist in creating a show that basically says the original actresses are too old to do a job they did 12 years ago," Combs wrote in May, adding that she hoped the revival would be “better than the marketing so far.”

Meanwhile, ET caught up with the stars of the revival -- Melonie Diaz, Sarah Jeffery, and Madeleine Mantock -- at San Diego Comic-Con last month, where they opened up about the criticism the show has received, as well as how much they would "love" cameos from the original stars."

New Article: Exclusive Alyssa Milano, News media continues to normalize Trump!
Posted on 01 Sep 2018
Posted by Admin
Appearances icon

Hello everybody,

Actress Alyssa Milano in an interview that aired Thursday on "Rising" said the news media has normalized President Trump throughout his campaign and the first half of his presidency instead of pointing out events she calls "crazy."

""The media actually normalized some of what he did, and continues to normalize it instead of going ‘Can you believe how crazy this is? This guy wants to do this,' " Milano, a frequent critic of Trump, said to Hill.TV's Buck Sexton on Tuesday.

Sexton noted that some in the media would probably say they have tried to “raise as many alarms as they can.”

“I would wonder if you were to have this conversation with any number of White House correspondents or major news anchors, other than at one channel that I’m sure you could guess, you would probably have a lot of folks saying they’re doing everything that they can to raise as many alarms as they can," Sexton said.

Milano pushed back on that assertion, saying she does not think the media has done “enough.”

“I don’t think it’s enough, and I don’t think it was enough when he was campaigning," Milano replied. "I think that we coddled this idea of a man who has been a self-proclaimed pussy grabber.

"During this time, instead of calling it what it was, which was total and crazy bullshit that this guy would actually be allowed to be the leader of the greatest country on the planet, the most powerful country on the planet, the fact that instead of news media going ‘This is just crazy,’ they reported it like it was normal, so it completely normalized the entire thing. We looked at it like ‘This is entertaining. This is getting us ratings.’”

Trump has maintained a contentious relationship with many outlets, frequently slamming CNN and The New York Times for what he says is unfair coverage of him and his administration.

The president stepped up his attacks on CNN on Wednesday, saying the network "is being torn apart from within based on their being caught in a major lie and refusing to admit the mistake" over a story on the 2016 Trump Tower meeting.

CNN fired back in a statement, saying the network does not lie."

New Article: Alyssa Milano on Parenting, Fandom, and Why She's Not Afraid to Get Political!
Posted on 01 Sep 2018

Projects icon

Hello everybody,

If you follow Alyssa Milano on Twitter, you know that the actress is NOT afraid to dive into politics. (See: "Those that tell me not to tweet politics because I'm an uninformed celebrity are the same people that voted for ... an uninformed celebrity.")

"Why? Because she's a mom (to Milo, 5, and Elizabella, 2), Milano told InStyle. "I just want my kids to be in a place that’s not terrifying." Milano will be first in line to admit she doesn't always balance motherhood and the other dozen projects she's working on as smoothly as it might appear ("It's f—ing scary," she says of parenting). But ultimately, the juggling act is all in service of Milano's ultimate goal—to be a stay-at-home mom when her kids are teenagers so she can be there to "read their diaries," she said, laughing.

InStyle caught up with the mom/actress/fashion entrepreneur/TV host/judge/author about keeping all those balls in the air, including her role on Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later and her sports fashion line Touch by Alyssa Milano's new fall collection, which launched last week at Macy's Herald Square and partners with NFL to offer stylish alternatives to the fan tees you might normally find in stadiums.

Read on for Milano's expert-worthy self-care tips, why she was so happy that Adam Scott replaced Bradley Cooper in Wet Hot, and why she thinks it's essential to speak out politically—even if it gets you threats. "

New Appearance: Alyssa Milano Defends The #MeToo Movement Amid Asia Argento Allegations!

Appearances icon
Hello everybody,

Alyssa Milano is speaking out about the sexual assault allegations against Asia Argento. The 45-year-old actress shared her thoughts during a sit-down interview with ABC News.

""People that have been abused can also be abusers, and that's a sad fact," she said during the interview, which aired on Thursday's episode of Good Morning America.

Earlier this week, The New York Times published a report claiming Argento had agreed to pay Jimmy Bennett $380,000 after his attorney sent her a notice of intent to sue alleging she had sexually assaulted the former child actor when he was 17 years old. The report was based on documents the newspaper received in an encrypted email from an unidentified party.

Argento "strongly" denied "the contents of The New York Times article" and said she "never had any sexual relationship with Bennett." However, the newspaper stood by its reporting.

After her denial, TMZ shared an alleged text exchange between Argento and a "friend," in which Argento seemingly confessed to having sex with Bennett while he was a minor. However, E! News has not verified the validity of the texts.

TMZ also shared a photo of Argento and Bennett in which they appeared to be shirtless and resting their heads against a pillow.

Argento's attorney did not return TMZ's or E! News' request for comment."

New Article: Exclusive Alyssa Milano to Receive GLAAD’s Inaugural Ariadne Getty Ally Award!
Posted on 31 Aug 2018
Posted by Admin
Appearances icon

#MeToo advocate and actress Alyssa Milano will be honored with GLAAD’s inaugural Ariadne Getty Ally Award at the GLAAD Gala in San Francisco on Sept. 15.The Ariadne Getty Ally Award is presented to an LGBTQ ally who uses their voice and public platform to accelerate and affect acceptance for the LGBTQ community. The award is named after philanthropist Ariadne Getty, a member of GLAAD’s board of directors who announced a $15 million gift to support GLAAD’s work to accelerate LGBTQ acceptance at the 2018 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland.

"In addition to work for #MeToo, Milano has raised awareness around ending HIV and AIDS, was a vocal supporter of marriage equality, and uses social media to amplify the voices of LGBTQ people. She joined GLAAD for a rally in Times Square protesting a proposed ban on transgender Americans in the military and used her website, PatriotNotPartisan, to share the stories of Laila Ireland, a transgender veteran.

“I’m so honored to receive this award,” Milano told Variety exclusively. “I have long admired the work that GLAAD does day in and day out to advance the interests of the LGBTQI community so receiving this award from them really means a lot to me.”

Milano was an outspoken supporter of passing marriage equality, appeared as a judge on “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” and stood with LGBTQ youth and against bullying by participating in Spirit Day. She is a UNICEF National Ambassador and testified before Congress on behalf of an Equal Rights Amendment that would write anti-discrimination into the U.S. Constitution. Most recently, she released a video speaking out against the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, citing threats to LGBTQ and women’s rights.

Veteran journalist Emil Wilbekin will receive the Ric Weiland Award for growing LGBTQ inclusion in tech. The award honors innovators who advance LGBTQ equality and acceptance through tech and new media. Wilbekin has long worked to change the way that black gay men are perceived and received in the media by bringing LGBTQ stories to the forefront through his work as editor-in-chief of Vibe and editor-at-large of Essence.

“I am grateful to GLAAD for honoring me with the Ric Weiland Award,” Wilbekin told Variety. “It is critical that LGBTQ people of color are involved, engaged, and empowered in tech. It’s an issue of equality. There must be diversity in creating technology and the platforms that amplify our narratives and process our data. We must have a seat at the table.”

The event, hosted by “Will & Grace” actor Leslie Jordan, will feature “Pose”‘s Mj Rodriguez, “RuPaul’s Drag Race” stars Ross Mathews and Michelle Visage, tech journalist Ina Fried, and transgender pop star Kim Petras.

GLAAD Gala San Francisco, which will take place at Hyatt Regency San Francisco, celebrates and features storytellers and tech innovators who accelerate LGBTQ acceptance and helps fund GLAAD’s digital advocacy work to grow LGBTQ inclusion in digital and social media."

Charmed Updates: Exclusive Experience The Power Of Three With Our Special Charmed Binge Guide
Posted on 30 Aug 2018

Charmed Updates icon

Hello everybody,

Everyone loves a witchy story, especially if you're someone who grew up in the late '90s/early '00s on high doses of Sabrina the Teenage Witch and movies like The Craft and Practical Magic. If you were in junior high at the perfect time, then you got all of these things at once, and Charmed was everything you loved about magic, teen drama, sisterhood, and that specific kind of high school new age Wicca that was a little bit hippy and a lot Hot Topic mall goth who definitely got their ears pierced at Claire's boutique two stores down.

"Despite its very dated wardrobe and view of technology, Charmed was a series both ahead of its time and exactly of its time. It fed on the fires stoked by Buffy the Vampire Slayer and brought a different kind of sensibility to the world of magic and the supernatural. Charmed was all about the power of women, about uniting three sisters with disparate personalities to fight against the forces of darkness and, yes, sometimes the patriarchy.

The series has officially turned 20 years old this year (and will be getting the reboot treatment in the fall), so we thought this would be the best time for a rewatch. To facilitate this journey through eight seasons of witchy adventures, though, we've assembled this binge guide, which will help you find those episodes which best follow the core relationship of this romance-heavy show: that of the Charmed Ones."

Shadow of the Sphinx is the 16th book of the Charmed novels and is written by Carla Jablonski. It is set between Season 4 Episode 12 of "Lost and Bound" and Season 4 Episode 15 "Marry-Go-Round" as Phoebe is engaged to Cole for the duration of the novel.

"Description:

Shifting sands, eternal dust,
unending time moves as it must.
But ancient wisdom works through me,
time is mine—where e'er I be.

Paige Matthews is having a minor identity crisis. She is slowly but surely embracing her long lost sisters' witchy ways, but she doesn't want to overstep her boundaries. After all, she wouldn't ever want to replace Prue Halliwell—even if she could. So Paige considers it a stroke of luck when, one day, her experiments with magic turn her into a cat. Who knew she had a knack for shape-shifting?

One problem: She can't shift herself back. Her sisters inadvertently betray her when they deposit her at a local animal shelter. Suddenly she finds herself the familiar of a cult that worships ancient Egyptian deities, and is catapulted into ancient Egypt! Piper and Phoebe discover the identity of the stray cat and rally a rescue mission, only to discover another cat-woman, also entrapped within a fortress-like sphinx.

This kitty is one feline femme fatale, and the sisters are going to have to put human heads together to defeat her!"

Charmed Updates: A Man Has Stolen The Book Of Shadows And All The Cast Of ‘Charmed’ Want It Back
Posted on 29 Aug 2018
Posted by Admin
Charmed Updates icon

Hello everybody,

In a story weirdly reminiscent of a plot from the cult TV show Charmed, disgraced CBS executive Brad Kern has reportedly stolen the witches book of spells, the Book Of Shadows. And the sisters three want it back. Brad Kern is the showrunner on NCIS: New Orleans, and over the past year has been hit with a spree of allegations of sexual harassment, discrimination, and creating a hostile work environment with offensive comments about women and people of colour.

"But before he worked on actively making NCIS an allegedly horrible place, he was the showrunner on Charmed. And when the show finished, he allegedly stole the Book Of Shadows.

He seems like precisely the kinda guy who SHOULDN’T be holding on to the repository of magic usually held in care by a trio of feminist witches. Feels particularly egregious in this time of blood moons, mysterious sarcophagi and undead polar worms.

According to Charmed actress Holly Marie Combs, Kern took the prop at the end of the show, with the intention of sharing custody of it. She’s now calling on him to auction the book and donate the proceeds to a women’s charity.

Alyssa Milano, another of the Charmed sisters is also joining the call to have the book returned.

“The original Book of Shadows was promised to Holly,” she told The Cut in an interview. “Brad is being investigated for sexual harassment, so if he’s not giving it to Holly, he should auction the Book of Shadows off and give the proceeds to Tarana Burke’s #MeToo Foundation.”

The Book Of Shadows in the show was very literally a tool of female empowerment, so it does rankle to think of it in the hands of the kind of dude it was crafted to help fight against.

Let’s hope it does get auctioned off and find its way to some new witchy sisters who will use it to smite male showrunners. Maybe even the proposed reboot will grab it?"
