"According to ET's report, Milano told the outlet that she hopes the reboot does its part to bring the magic of Charmed to a whole new generation of viewers. But the actor isn't thrilled about the extent to which the original Halliwell sisters have been ousted from the new series and its development. Speaking to ET, Milano said,
"I wish that they would have come to us and we would have been involved since the beginning. But having said that, I do hope that it reaches the newer generation and impacts that generation the way ours was able to do for its generation."
As ET noted in its original report, it doesn't sound like Milano wants to be involved in The CW's reboot series. Responding to an inquiry about whether or not she'd consider taking on a directing role — or appearing for a brief cameo, even — Milano told the outlet she "thinks that ship has sailed." A little bit more directly, though, the actor replied, "I don't think so." And much as veteran Charmed fans might like to believe the actor might be willing to change her mind on that front, Milano's earlier comments to ET about her thoughts on the reboot suggest she's probably not going to.
Fans who've been following this year's Charmed-related updates know Milano is certainly not the first Halliwell sister to voice her upset about the upcoming reboot series, and how its new network is handling the project. Back in January, when The CW first green-lit the series, it described the revamp (which touts a new headlining cast of witches) as a "fierce, funny, feminist reboot of the original series" that "centers on three sisters in a college town who discover they are witches."
And while it certainly is exciting that Charmed fans in 2018 will get to see the series' new trio of spellbinding sisters "tearing down the patriarchy" and "vanquishing supernatural demons" — as the series' descriptor went on to say — in between classes, the original sisters did take issue with some of the phrasing. Those wondering why, exactly, should probably take a look at Holly Marie Combs' (AKA Piper Halliwell) explanation from several months back. In a lengthy message posted to Twitter on May 22, Combs hit the nail on the head.
"Let me say first that I appreciate the jobs and opportunities the Charmed reboot has created," she wrote, starting off the tweet. "But I will never understand what is fierce, funny, or feminist in creating a show that basically says the original actresses are too old to do a job they did 12 years ago." After adding that she hopes the revival series itself is better than its "marketing," Combs seemed to sum up the crux of the original Charmed cast's upset in just a few words."
"Description:
A desperate gamble
An ancient curse
Will it be good or evil
That triumphs first?
Phoebe Halliwell may be ready to turn over a new leaf as a single gal, but her newly redemonized ex-husband, Cole, isn't ready to let her go. Aware of a supernatural plot against the Charmed Ones, Cole keeps watch over Phoebe, and intercedes at the moment of battle, only to accidentally create a rip in time. Cole disappears to WW II-era Hollywood—and brings the sisters with him!
While the Charmed Ones are no strangers to extreme circumstances, what they didn't anticipate was a demonic stronghold shaking down local businesses. To infiltrate the evil underground, Paige poses as a young starlet, working an entirely different kind of magic before the camera. Meanwhile, Piper is tempted to seek out Leo—in this world, he's still human—and Phoebe is at her wits' end contending with Cole.
But a demon henchman is working the black magic mojo on Paige, and if the sisters don't focus, before long they'll find themselves completely out of luck!"
"Nikki Angioli (AHS' Emma Roberts) is working abroad in London as a chef when she returns home (Little Italy) to sort out issues with a work visa. This is when she reconnects with Leo Campo (Star Wars' Hayden Christensen), whose family owns a rival pizza joint nearby.
They were childhood friends, and now, as adults, the two find themselves in a whirlwind romance in the midst of their families’ feud. As Entertainment Tonight describes, "Little Italy is like Romeo and Juliet, except with less death and more pizza.
"The director of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Miss Congeniality serves up a delicious new comedy topped with passion, playfulness and pepperoni," states the synopsis. "Former childhood pals Leo (Hayden Christensen) and Nikki (Emma Roberts) are attracted to each other as adults — but will their feuding parents' rival pizzerias put a chill on their sizzling romance?"
You may recall that Roberts' aunt Julia Roberts starred in a pizza film of her own back in 1988, Mystic Pizza — which was also directed by Donald Petrie.
In an apparent ode to the classic movie, Roberts wears a t-shirt that reads, "A Slice of Heaven," in Little Italy, almost exactly the same as the one her aunt wore in Mystic Pizza. "

A shard of mirror for a broken reflection
A pocket watch with a cracked face
A cache of herbs to burn for protection
All will send me to another time and place.
Phoebe Halliwell is having a very bad day: A demon has pulled her centuries into the past. She has no way to tell her sisters she's alive, no way to get back to her own time—and the demon is trying to kill her.
Back in the present, Prue & Piper are devastated at losing their sister. But that isn't their only problem. Something is wrong with them, too. Somehow, they're turning... evil.
But why? And how can they stop it—without the Power of Three?"
""I wish that they would have come to us and we would have been involved since the beginning," she told Entertainment Tonight.
"But having said that, I do hope that it reaches the newer generation and impacts that generation the way ours was able to do for its generation."
When pressed on whether she would make a cameo, Milano added: "I don't think so. I think that that ship has sailed for me."
The cast of the new Charmed recently responded to the backlash from the original cast, admitting it was "disappointing".
"Of course, you can't help but feel disappointed because I think the script is fantastic," Madeleine Mantock admitted. "I really hope maybe she'll see it and like it."
Co-star Melonie Diaz added that the reboot has received "a lot of positive stuff coming out", and that is what they have decided to focus on."
"Throughout Insatiable’s first season, Patty is unfiltered with her thoughts about the world, her weight, and her self-worth. A lot of what she said was bad (and can be harmful to those who don’t want to hear it), but it’s an internal conversation she had during her own struggles.
It’s not hard to relate to Patty’s negative words about her internal self-worth and goal weight as it’s something I had gone through with an eating disorder. The thoughts are dark and it affects your outlook on life, so it’s not surprising when she makes certain perceptions about achieving happiness. It’s unfortunate that the show took the more shallow approach and only lightly touched upon these moments throughout the season. Those are the moments that made Patty more human and brought her to a realization with regards to her actions.
However, the problem with Patty is that she makes SO MANY BAD DECISIONS! You can’t root for her because she’ll do or say the worst possible thing. Every time that it seemed like Patty made a breakthrough, she would jump right back into doing something that wrecked it all. Patty made Insatiable feel like a roller coaster, and it was hard not to feel anything but queasy when her life kept getting worse. It was frustrating to watch.
Insatiable season one is a roller coaster of complicated issues and complex emotions. On the one hand, it’s a guilty pleasure if you love dark comedies. On the other hand, it’s also a tonal mess that bounced around too often to deliver the emotional punch it wanted to achieve. I don’t hate Insatiable, but it has a lot of problems. Its issues with the overall story, characters, and structure can’t be ignored and if Insatiable returns for a second season, these issues need to be fixed."
