Despite having low ratings, it looks like ABC’s Mistresses might end up getting renewed for a second season anyway. TVLine reports that the network has quietly extended their options on the show’s core cast through the end of September.
While the Monday night drama could still be cancelled, this move means that ABC hasn’t given up on Mistresses just yet and likely wants to see how the whole season performs before making a decision.
Mistresses has been averaging a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.84 million total viewers. The most recent installment hit a series low with a 1.0 rating and 3.47 million.
The network ordered 13 episodes and the last of them will air on September 9th. What do you think? Are you hoping that Mistresses is renewed for a second season or cancelled instead?
Milano is a widely-recognized actress, producer, philanthropist, and former singer. She is best known for her roles in the television series Who's the Boss, Charmed and Mistresses. Milano has also made a name for herself in the fashion industry with her other "Touch by Alyssa Milano" collections, synonymous with style and function. Other "Touch by Alyssa Milano" collections include unique apparel, jewelry and accessories designed for the stylish female sports fan. Alyssa's upcoming role as host of Project Runway All Stars demonstrates her interest in the next generation of fashion designers.
"It's been super fun working with Alyssa to develop an exclusive line of eyewear that fits perfectly with our customers," commented Aaron Magness, Coastal.com's VP of Marketing. "Her global fan base has been very vocal through social media, asking when the collection is coming. They are going to love what they see."
Milano added, "Whether on the red carpet or relaxing at home, glasses are part of my everyday look. So, I wanted to design a line of fun and flirty eyewear that can take you from day to night."
Milano has collaborated with writers Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly, artist Marcus To, colorist Ian Herring, and letterer Deron Bennett to create a new graphic novel called Hacktivist, a “fast-paced cyber-thriller” that follows a pair of Silicon Valley wunderkinds who lead a secret double life. By day, Ed Hiccox and Nate Graft are the founders of an innovative social media company; by night, they’re a notorious team of hackers.
“I’m very involved with in global activism and philanthropy. I like the idea of everyday people doing good,” Milano explains in a statement. “My inspiration for Hacktivist is actually Jack Dorsey, the creator of Twitter and Square. I picture him leaving the office at night and going home, where he locks himself in his room and starts hacking to change the world.”
Archaia Entertainment will debut Hacktivist digitally this fall and in hardcover next summer. Additionally, 500 copies of an exclusive Hacktivist ashcan comic — filled with preview content, original concept art, and an interview with Milano herself — will be distributed for free at Archaia’s Comic-Con booth later this week.
Shannen Doherty's acrimonious exit from "Charmed" back in 2001 has been well-documented over the years, with rumors that she left the WB show as the result of a feud with co-star Alyssa Milano. On a recent visit to "Watch What Happens Live," Milano shared her side of the story after a caller asked for the truth behind Doherty's supposed firing.
"I don't know if she got fired, we never really found out what happened," Milano said. "I can tell you that we were on the air with her for three years and there were definitely some rough days. Holly [Marie Combs] and Shannen were best friends for like 10 years before the show started so it was very much sort of like high school. I would hope that in our thirties it wouldn't feel like that anymore ... but it was the best job I've ever had in my life and certainly a learning experience."
