New Article: Exclusive Sharing With Alyssa Milano, How I Came to Terms With My Anxiety Disorder

Hello everybody,

I have a secret, and I am not alone. I am a mother, an actor and an activist — and like over 40 million Americans, I live with a mental illness. This Mental Health Awareness Month, I am joining the people nationwide who are standing up, sharing their stories and demanding that lawmakers defend our access to health care. My Generalized Anxiety Disorder was most likely triggered by my postpartum depression, and my journey with mental illnesses began with my journey into motherhood.

"In 2011, two years after suffering a miscarriage, I learned that I was pregnant with my first son, Milo — and it was a dream. My miscarriage was heartbreaking, but this pregnancy was beautiful: I did not experience morning sickness; I went to prenatal yoga five times a week; I walked two miles a day, and I took naps in the afternoon.

Following this idyllic image of motherhood, I wrote a strict birth plan: no induction of labor, no pain medication, and no c-sections. I equated a natural birth to my value as a woman and as a mother — and I was determined not to stray from that course.

But life does not always go according to plan.

On August 31, 2011, ten days before my due date, I began to have complications. Despite my plan, the doctors had to try to induce labor. I was forced to take an epidural, and I eventually delivered my beautiful son (after 18 hours of labor and three and a half hours of pushing) via C-section. And then, with my darling son in my hands, I was in excruciating pain not only from my C-section but also, from my milk coming in.

That first night, after we returned from the hospital, I suffered my first anxiety attack. I felt like I had already disappointed my child. I felt like I failed as a mother since I was not able to give birth vaginally or nourish him with the breast milk that had not come in yet. My heart raced. My stomach seized up. I felt like I was dying.

I recovered. But a few months later, Milo spiked a very high fever and had a febrile seizure in my arms, and my paralyzing anxiety reared its head again.

No, no, no, I thought to myself. This can’t be happening again. I don’t have time for this. This was still 2011, and I was supposed to start work on a television show the following week."

Charmed Updates: Exclusive Spotlight On "Charmed" Books, With Novel Penned By Emma Harrison, "Garden Of Evil" Finally Added!

Hello everybody,

I am trying to make something different here with "Charmed Novel" since the page that I am building is still under construction. Let's continue this week with the online novel penned by Emma Harrison, "Garden Of Evil"! Garden of Evil is the 13th novel of the Charmed novels and is written by Emma Harrison.
This novel is set between Season 4 Episode 6 A Knight to Remember and Season 4 Episode 8 Black as Cole as Paige Matthews has moved into the manor, but Cole still retains his demonic powers.

"Description:

By the powers above
And by all things good,
Bring me a love
Who will always be true.

Although Paige's latest boyfriend—encountered when vanquishing a demon that was about to kill him and his date—appears perfect, Phoebe tells Piper about the misgivings she has and when she discovers that he is actually the mortal identity of the demon Vandalus, who traps Paige in his garden and sets out to seduce her so that he can break the curse he is under and unlock his full power.

Thanks to a last-ditch effort to penetrate the shield Vandalus had erected to block access by using Cole to bypass the shield—it had been erected to prevent good from penetrating, but Cole's powers coming from evil gave the Charmed Ones an unexpected loophole—Vandalus's influence over Paige is broken and he is vanquished."

Project Updates: Netflix swoops in to save Debby Ryan's discarded CW beauty pageant drama Insatiable

Hello everybody,

Netflix boss Reed Hastings may have recently said the streaming service needs to be more ruthless when it comes to canceling its original programming – but it's reportedly stepping stepped in to save a drama pilot which didn't make it at The CW.

"Insatiable, inspired by a real-life story, tells the tale of a disgraced, dissatisfied civil lawyer-turned-beauty pageant coach who takes on a bullied teenager as his client. According to Deadline, Netflix is about to save the day by ordering a 13-episode series.

Former Disney star Debby Ryan leads Insatiable's cast as the bullied teen, while Dallas Roberts, formerly of The Walking Dead and The Good Wife, takes on the role of attorney Bob. Alyssa Milano is also part of the cast.

The dark comedy was piloted by The CW to good reviews, but in the facts of stiff competition from other pilots including DC Comics series Black Lightning and the upcoming Dynasty reboot, The CW dropped the show and decided not to take it up to series.

The streaming service is thought to be finalizing a deal with CBS TV Studios over the rights to the show, with hopes of making it a Netflix Original series.

Netflix has declined to make the official comment on the reports.

This isn't the first time that a CBS TV Studios pilot which missed out on a network pickup has been saved by a streaming service.

Back in 2015, Amazon landed the rights to make Bryan Cranston drama Sneaky Pete an Amazon Original after the show failed to find a home on network TV in the US – and it isn't doing badly."

New Article: Exclusive Eva Mendes Shares Amazing Throwback Fangirl Pic With Alyssa Milano!
Posted on 15 May 2018

Alyssa News icon

Hello everybody,

Once upon a time, Eva Mendes was Alyssa Milano's biggest fan. The Place Beyond the Pines star took to Instagram on Thursday to share an epic throwback pic of herself meeting Milano when they were just teenagers. While a 15-year-old Mendes was a high school student at the time, 16-year-old Milano was a child actress starring on Who's the Boss?

""That time the boss Alyssa Milano came to the mall when I was 15 and I lost my damn mind. I was obsessed," Mendes captioned the shot. "❤️#tbt @milano_alyssa," Milano commented on the post with a kissy face and hug emoji.

ET caught up with Who's the Boss? star Judith Light last month, when she opened up about the possibility of the sitcom getting the reboot treatment.

“I don't know,” she admitted. “Nobody's really talked about it, and I don't know that that would... I mean, we're all working. Tony [Danza]'s got a show on Netflix, Alyssa's working, Danny [Pintauro]'s working, and you know, Katherine [Helmond]'s working, I'm not sure we'd be able to put it together. Nobody's really talked about it, so I don't know.”"

New Article: Exclusive Alyssa Milano on Protesting the NRA Convention, 'This Is Chaos'!
Posted on 15 May 2018

Alyssa News icon

Hello everybody,

Starting May 4th, tens of thousands of people will attend the National Rifle Association's annual convention in Dallas, Texas, complete with exhibits, events, and appearances by President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence. But in a year marked by the Parkland school shooting—and the students’ subsequent fight for common sense gun laws—it seemed only natural that people would stand up to protest. One of those people is Alyssa Milano, actress, activist, and now a member of the NoRA coalition.

"The day after the Parkland shooting, Milano emailed her activist, artist, and celebrity friends, looking for something they could do to help. Since then, they’ve worked together onNoRA (No Rifle Association) with the goal of highlighting the NRA’s spending in American politics.

The group, which includes a number of other celebrity and activists members, including Tarana Burke, David Hogg, Minnie Driver, Amy Schumer, and Jimmy Kimmel, first launched in late April, on the 19th anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting. They wrote an open letter to NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre, which read, "Your time signing checks in our blood is up."

“We call ourselves a culture hack,” Milano told ELLE.com over the phone, days before the convention. “And we’re using art, in particular, to drive our message because I feel like there is no better conversation instigator than art, and I also feel like art is something that bridges the divide.”

But, she clarifies, they’re not anti-Second Amendment. In fact, they want to stress the difference between the NRA members and the gun lobbyists. Milano says they believe in responsible gun ownership, they just don’t believe in the stronghold the gun lobby has over the country’s political system."

Charmed Updates: The CW Is Picking Up The 'Charmed' Reboot, But I Don't Know If I'll Be Watching!
Posted on 14 May 2018
Posted by Admin
Charmed Updates icon

Hello everybody,

The CW is officially picking up the upcoming Charmed reboot, which is good news... if you're a traitor. Okay, maybe that's a little harsh, but as a lover of the original series, I have issues with the new kid in town. To be fair, it's rare that any fan of a classic show is amped for a shiny new version. Let's be honest: Reboots often don't turn out to be half as good as their predecessor. But let's talk about why I'm especially skeptical of this funky little reboot.

"Firstly, the original cast won't be included in the new show. Alyssa Milano (who played Phoebe), Holly Marie Combs (Piper), and Shannen Doherty (Prue) have happily expressed they'd be a part of a revival of the '00s series, so WTH?

I would much rather catch up with the Halliwell family than get to know a whole new group of strangers. What are Piper's sons, Wyatt and Chris, up to now? Did Phoebe ever start her own magazine? And what about Paige?

This leads me to my second issue: How is this show Charmed if it has nothing to do with the original story? It makes me feel taken advantage of as a fan; as if slapping a familiar name on a new series that's nothing like the one I loved will manipulate me into watching. In other words, how dare you?

But I guess it's not all bad. The new show is an exploration of what being a young witch looks like in 2018. Here's the logline:

After the tragic death of their mother, three sisters in a college town are stunned to discover they are witches. Soon this powerful threesome must stand together to fight the everyday and supernatural battles that all modern witches must face: from vanquishing powerful demons to toppling the patriarchy.

It's a feminist series (I'd argue the original was a feminist series, but mmkay) that will tackle a variety of issues relevant to women. With the sisters' magical powers, instead of marching, they can turn mansplainers into frogs... hopefully? At least there's that.

No word yet on when the shows will hit the network, but maybe that's a good thing. I'm still warming up to the idea of a non-Halliwell threesome."

Charmed Updates: Exclusive The CW orders Charmed and Roswell reboots, plus a Greg Berlanti football drama!
Posted on 13 May 2018
Posted by Admin
Charmed Updates icon

Hello everybody,

It’s time for The CW to party like it’s 1999. The network announced on Friday that it has picked up reboots of Charmed and Roswell for the 2018-2019 season.

"Charmed — which originally ran on The WB from 1998 to 2006 and starred Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, Alyssa Milano, and Rose McGowan — revolves around three sisters in a college town who discover they are witches after their mother dies. The trio now must battle forces both supernatural and quotidian, “from vanquishing powerful demons to toppling the patriarchy.” The plan was to make it a ’70s-set prequel to the series, but now the reboot will be set in present day. Jane the Virgin scribes Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin serve as executive producers/writers.

Roswell, which aired on The WB and UPN from 1999 to 2002, is based on the book Roswell High (which begat the original series). The premise centers on the daughter of undocumented immigrants who returns to her hometown of Roswell, New Mexico, where she discovers that her teenage crush-turned-police officer is actually an alien. The duo begins to investigate his origins, but “when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance.” The Originals writer Carina Adly MacKenzie, who penned the pilot, will serve as executive producer.

The CW also ordered another Greg Berlanti-produced drama, All American, which has been described as Friday Night Lights meets Straight Outta Compton meets The OC. The series, which is inspired by the life of NFL linebacker Spencer Paysinger, follow a star high school football player from South L.A. who is recruited to play for Beverly Hills High, and “the wins, losses, and struggles of two families from vastly different worlds — Crenshaw and Beverly Hills — begin to collide,” reads the logline. April Blair (Jane By Design) is serving as writer/executive producer.

Berlanti continues to expand his TV empire, which includes two new series that CBS ordered: God Friended Me and The Red Line. He already lords over (get ready, this is a long list): Arrow, The Flash, Riverdale, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Blindspot, Black Lightning, and Deception, with You, Titans, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina also on the way.

In addition, the network gave the green light to In the Dark, a drama about a flawed, irreverent blind woman who bears witness to the murder of a friend who is a drug dealer. When the police ignore her story, she and her dog, Pretzel, try to hunt down the killer while “also managing her colorful dating life and the job she hates at the guide dog school owned by her overprotective parents.” Ben Stiller and Michael Showalter serve as executive producers alongside EP/writer Corinne Kingsbury (The Newsroom)."

New Article: Exclusive Alyssa Milano protested the NRA while with armed security protected her!
Posted on 10 May 2018
Posted by Admin
Alyssa News icon

Hello everybody,

The annual NRA convention held in Dallas last week wasn’t just a chance to brandish guns or boast about the Second Amendment. For at least one Hollywood celebrity, it was a chance to get caught up in a little bit of hypocrisy of her own making.

"Alyssa Milano showed up at the convention on Saturday, at NoRA, an event meant to protest the National Rifle Association and the organization's unabashed support for the Second Amendment. However, it was clear that she was accompanied by some form of private security, likely associated officially with the protest or with herself — and that security was armed. A man named Will Haraway, an NRA member, asked a member of Milano’s security detail if he was armed, which he was. The guard then firmly asked Haraway to move away from the protest, backing into him so he was forced to walk backwards onto the sidewalk, even though Haraway had every right to attend the protest.

Another journalist, Ben Howe, formerly of Redstate, caught a short portion of the scene here.

This is Will Haraway a CCW @nra member. He asked @Alyssa_Milano’s security if he was armed (he was) and then asked Alyssa about it. Here’s what happened. (She comes to talk to him after this and I will post that longer video shortly). pic.twitter.com/qMsq6rbzDd

— Ben (@BenHowe) May 5, 2018
The Hollywood starlet took to Twitter to criticize the NRA and Howe’s tape, claiming it had been edited to make her look bad. Other affiliated organizations who are opposed to the NRA claimed there was a conspiracy between Howe and Haraway to catch the hypocrisy and expose it. Unfortunately for liberals, the two who had just met that day.

It’s one thing to protest the NRA’s annual convention — that would certainly be Milano’s right, even if it’s not in her best interest. No one argues that. But it’s incredibly disingenuous of her to attend the protest with armed security, whether that’s her own private bodyguard or armed event personnel who were already present. While no organization would be more committed to gun safety than the NRA, and neither they nor any sane conservative would wish harm upon her — and frankly I can’t think of an event where she would be safer — showing up at a protest where armed security detail is ensuring her safety seems even more hypocritical than the average movie star who brandishes firearms in movies while calling on the NRA to disband.

In an interview at the protest, Milano told a news organization, “I have nothing against the NRA members that are law-abiding gun owners. My problem is with the NRA and how they are the gun lobby that has bought off our government and therefore threatened our democracy and our safety as American people and our children’s safety.”

Of course, the NRA has neither “bought off our government” and certainly doesn’t threaten our democracy — rather, it protects it. This point could not have been made more clear by a Hollywood celebrity showing up at a gun convention to protest guns while an armed man ensures she remains safe by carrying a gun."

Hello everybody,

I am trying to make something different here with "Charmed Novel" since the page that I am building is still under construction. Let's continue this week with the online novel penned by Diana G Gallagher, "Dark Vengeance"! Dark Vengeance is the 15th book of the Charmed collection and is written by Diana G. Gallagher. This novel takes place between Season 4 Episode 13 Charmed and Dangerous, and Episode 15 Marry-Go-Round as Phoebe is engaged but has not yet married, and the Source was vanquished.

Piper is overwhelmed with the responsibilities of overseeing her household, Charmed affairs, and P3, her nightclub. Paige is still adjusting to her role as a savior of innocents and is increasingly sensitive to all levels of human pain.

Soon, though, Piper is distracted by an energetic musician auditioning to play at the club, Phoebe is making a new friend in her Web design class, and Paige is meeting new people at the homeless shelter where she volunteers. But it isn't long before the girls discover that a sinister force is working against them; Phoebe's short-term memory is shot, Piper can't control her emotions, and Paige feels thoroughly exhausted. At the same time, their powers are diminished. Could their new acquaintances be connected to the threat?

It's a real-life family feud—one that could have deadly results…"

Hello everybody,

Actress and political activist Alyssa Milano is coming to Santa Clarita on Tuesday to moderate an event with the Democratic candidates from the 25th Congressional district race. NextGen America is hosting the “Keeping Up with the Candidates” fundraiser at The Canyon. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the fundraiser geared at getting out the youth vote begins at 7 p.m.

"All proceeds go toward local progressive grassroots organizations — such as CHIRLAction Fund & 25 United for Progress — to give young voters interested in the Democratic party a chance to hear which candidates best align with their values and priorities.

At the event, voters will have the opportunity to ask the candidates where they stand on issues like immigration, the cost of college and climate change. Candidates Katie Hill, Jess Phoenix and Bryan Caforio will have the chance to introduce themselves and answer questions in a forum-like setting.

This will be the sixth “Keeping Up with the Candidates” #YouthVote event hosted by NextGen America, and the third in California following events in the 39th and 45th Congressional districts.

Milano is known for appearances on TV shows such as Who’s the Boss?, Melrose Place, Charmed, My Name is Earl, Mistresses and Wet Hot American Summer: 10 Years Later.

The event will be at The Canyon at 24201 Valencia Boulevard."
