Alyssa Milano’s next foray into design includes her 16 frame Touch by Alyssa Milano eyewear collection, coming this summer exclusively to Coastal.com.
Designed for a fun and fearless woman, the Touch eyewear collection is an extension of Alyssa’s casual, sultry style. The blend of modern acetate and colors and the vintage inspired elements of high temples, cat eye slants and modified wayfarer shapes are an ideal feminine blend.
These are just a few of our favorite styles from the collection – whose launch we are eagerly awaiting.
Alyssa Milano has her next role all sewn up.
The actress has signed on as the new host of Lifetime's design competition Project Runway All Stars, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
She will join returning judges Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman for the third season, which begins production in New York in June for a fall premiere.
The designers who will be competing for another shot at the crown have not yet been announced. Previous winners include Mondo Guerra (season one) and Anthony Ryan Auld (season two).
Milano, who follows in the footsteps of previous hosts Angela Lindvall (season one) and Carolyn Murphy (season two), is no stranger to the design world: She has her own clothing and jewelry line, Touch by Alyssa Milano, featuring pro-sports-themed apparel for women.
Milano's Project Runway All Stars role also reunites her with the network for which she previously starred in the movies Sundays at Tiffany's and Wisegal, the latter of which she also produced.
Meanwhile, the actress also returns to the small screen Monday night on ABC's new drama series Mistresses. The show, based on the U.K. series, centers on the scandalous lives of a sexy and sassy group of four girlfriends, each on her own path to self-discovery.
Mistresses, which premieres at 10 p.m., also stars Yunjin Kim, Rochelle Ayte, Jes Macallan, Brett Tucker, Jason George and Erik Stocklin.
Based on the British series of the same name, Mistresses stars Alyssa Milano, Rochelle Aytes, Yunjin Kim and Jes Maccallan as a group of women whose lives are full of illicit and complicated relationships — most of them involving being "the other woman," and one of them involving another woman. (Yes, we're talking about a lesbian relationship.)
Though being called a "guilty pleasure" tends to draw the ire of some showrunners, executive producer Rina Mimoun (Privileged, Gilmore Girls) doesn't seem to mind. "I embrace the term because it is soapy," she says. "Of course there are some melodramatic story points. This isn't Homeland. It's not The Wire. Is Parenthood a guilty pleasure? I don't think it is, but I hope we live in that world. Hopefully we're a grounded, relatable drama that has a lot of fun to it. Any time you take off your clothes a lot, you get a little guilty, so that's fine. We've got a lot of naked boys and girls running around, so it's a little guilty, but there's more to it than that."
In the series premiere alone (Monday, 10/9c, ABC), Savi (Milano) has an affair with a co-worker (Jason George), while Karen (Kim) deals with the loss of a patient with whom she was having an affair. Subsequently, she has an interesting and highly inappropriate relationship with his son. But it's not all as saucy as it sounds. At its core, the show is grounded in the realistic fallout of what an affair can do to all of those affected, not just the couple. "We really struggled to make sure that we don't think that adultery is no big deal," Mimoun says. "We don't think being a mistress or having been affected by your husband cheating on you is something that's frothy and adorable. It's serious and we try to deal with it in that way and handle it delicately."
While Karen advises Savi wait before confessing to Harry, her husband about his night with Dominic, Savi receives a completely different reaction from April. Meanwhile, April survey that a woman said that her late husband, Paul, led a double life. Joss finds a friend in his new client Alex. Karen agrees to meet Sam Grey.
Although the title of the show is “Mistresses” (it’s based on the UK show of the same name), Alyssa told Billy and Kit the drama may surprise viewers who tune in.
“I think that the great thing about the show is [that if] the title is what people are going to tune into, they will be pleasantly surprised by the amount of heart that the show has,” she said.
