"Camp Firewood campers, consider yourself charmed. Alyssa Milano (Charmed) has been cast in a hush-hush role in Wet Hot American Summer‘s upcoming second season, our sister site Deadline reports.
The Mistresses alum will show up in Ten Years Later, the sequel to the streaming video site’s First Day of Camp (which was a continuation of the 2001 cult comedy movie).
The new season — set in 1991, or a decade after the events of the original film — will consist of eight 30-minute episode; it’s slated to return in 2017.
Executive producers David Wain and Michael Showalter, who penned last year’s prequel-themed First Day of Camp, will once again write all eight episodes. Per Deadline, most of the series’ cast (including Bradley Cooper, Elizabeth Banks, Christopher Meloni and Amy Poehler) also will return.
In the past, Wain told TVLine that he and Showalter would “love to keep going,” adding that “camp is a very fertile area for so many. For us, I don’t think we’ll ever run out of stories to tell about these characters.”
Milano’s TV work also includes Who’s the Boss?, Melrose Place and My Name Is Earl."
"“I hate suspense.”
Earlier in the day, celebrities were showing off their playful voting-day selfies and encouraging their followers to head to the polls. A mere hours later, as Republican nominee Donald Trump draws ahead in the polls, the tone on social media has shifted significantly.
Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus haven’t tweeted since posting cheerful “I voted” selfies, but other influencers are visibly panicking on social media. Actress Alyssa Milano tweeted, “Is it possible that this country is more sexist than racist? May God help us all.”"
"Do not try to outdo Alyssa Milano when it comes to sports. You will lose. Because when the star of decades of TV shows — from Who’s the Boss? to Charmed and Project Runway All Stars — is not on set, she’s working on the Touch clothing line she created specifically for female sports fans like herself.
She’s catching a live sporting event with her family or perhaps filling her role as the bench coach of her 5-year-old son Milo’s Little League team. (In 2010, she also wrote a book, Safe at Home: Confessions of a Baseball Fanatic. The title says it all.)
“For me, I love all sports,” she tells Yahoo Celebrity. “I love going to sporting events, and I think to me it doesn’t matter really what the sport is, it’s just about coming together and celebrating as a community and rooting on your team.”
However, anyone can use the below guidelines to be a superfan like Milano.
Know that cheering for more than one team is part of the fun
Milano is a die-hard fan of the New York Giants. She was born in Brooklyn, and she and her agent husband of seven years, Dave Bugliari, have family ties to the team.
“My father-in-law is actually the head of the chain gang for the New York Giants and has been for like 50 years,” she reveals. “So that’s really cool.”
This year is different, though, since Milano’s current hometown of L.A. now has its own franchise. The Los Angeles Rams currently have a 3-3 record.
“I’m super excited,” she says. “We got season tickets, and you know, once they get settled in their stadium and stuff, the team will be winning.”
Rock fun fan gear — and not just at the stadium
Touch offers V-necks, hoodies, and more emblazoned with official team logos. The most important feature is that the clothes actually fit, a refreshing change of pace for women whose choices were long limited to sloppy sweatshirts and jerseys.
“Well, I think women like to have clothes that make them feel good, clothes that are flattering and that feel good on the body and are made of quality fabric,” she says. “When Touch first came on the market about eight years ago, that didn’t exist at all. I think there are a lot more options now, which is great being a sports fan and being able to look a little more fashionable — not like you’re wearing your husband’s T-shirt.”
Touch is now offering maternity sizes for NFL teams, including a shirt with ruching on the side that Milano names as one of her favorites from her latest collections. She also cites pieces that Project Runway All Stars contestant Kini Zamora designed as part of a challenge on the show as one of her favorites.
“I like it all, it just depends … I don’t only wear them to games,” she explains. “If I’m going to a dinner or something, I love the pieces that Kini designed from Project Runway, from our challenge that we did last year. He did a great coat and a great top for us, and I love those pieces.”
Keep game-day snacks on the lighter side.
Yes, Milano is super into sports, but she usually avoids your typical ballpark fare. Probably a good thing since she spends so much time there. A person can only eat so many nachos and Cracker Jacks.
“I live the Atkins lifestyle, so I try to stay away from, obviously, chips. Cheese is great,” she notes. “Veggies are great to have. Zucchini chips are great. Spinach artichoke dip is great. Chicken wings. So I just really try to stay away from the carbs and sugar.”
No wonder she looks so good!
Don’t be glued to the couch.
Milano keeps up with a lot of sports, but she’s not one of those people who won’t go anywhere when the game is on.
“[With the Internet], you can really go anywhere and at least listen to a game,” she notes. “Now that Twitter is actually airing sporting events, that makes it much easier, because you can tweet while you’re watching football, which is really cool.”
It’s particularly convenient for mega-Twitter users like Milano."
"Few modern actresses have developed the sort of iconography enjoyed by Alyssa Milano. Starting her career as a child in movies like Commando and Old Enough, she would eventually go on to achieve increased fame in her teen and adult years with roles in sitcoms, soap operas, and major motion pictures. Hell, she even had a ship named after her in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. Now it seems that the legendary actress has found a brand new TV role on the upcoming second season of Netflix's Wet Hot American Summer series, which is being dubbed Ten Years Later.
A new report from Deadline confirms that Alyssa Milano has been tapped to join the cast of the second season of Wet Hot American Summer. Unlike last summer's Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, the upcoming season of the Netflix series will fast forward in time one full decade to meet up with our favorite characters ten whole years after their final day of work at Camp Firewood. Well, everyone except Michael Ian Black's McKinley; he had a thing that day and he couldn't move it.
Sadly, no character information was unveiled, but we have an idea how the actress could play into things. It's the very specific time period of Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later that likely informed the decision to cast Alyssa Milano in the first place. The upcoming season of the hit Netflix series will take place in the summer of 1991, which means that it will take place during the initial height of Milano's real life popularity on the ABC sitcom Who's the Boss? With that in mind, it seems like an incredibly clever move to cast a notable actress from the era to make an appearance in order to capitalize on 1990s nostalgia in a major way.
That being said, don't expect Alyssa Milano to exist merely as a prop for other characters to use for comedy. The actress has proven time and time again that she has the chops to hold her own and deliver the laughs with gusto. In addition to her aforementioned role on Who's The Boss? she has also taken on a number of comedic parts over the years, ranging from voice work on Family Guy to guest stints on live-action series like My Name Is Earl and Mr. Show with Bob and David, and Charmed was funny sometimes, too. To put it bluntly: she can hold her own against some of the best comedic talents in the industry. Expect no less this time around.
CinemaBlend will bring you any and all relevant information related to Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later (as well as Alyssa Milano's involvement in it) as more details become available to us. The series is expected to premiere next year. For now, make sure to check out our comprehensive fall TV premiere guide and fill out your television viewing schedules accordingly! "Alyssa Milano’s 2014 graphic novel Hacktivist is heading to the small screen. The CW is developing a drama series adaptation of fast-paced cyber-thriller from the former Mistresses star, Covert Affairs creators/executive producers Matt Corman and Chris Ord, BOOM! Studios and CBS TV Studios.
Written by Corman and Ord, Hacktivist tells the story of Nate Graft and Ed Hiccox, two twenty-something best friends and co-founders of the most important social networking company in the world, who are recruited to work secretly for the CIA to bring about global social change. Using their fame and access as cover, and their technical prowess as a tool, Nate & Ed pull off risky missions, both foreign and domestic. But the arrangement is not without perils — Nate & Ed’s thirst for information freedom runs deep, begging the question, can the CIA trust them? And, more importantly, can Nate & Ed trust the CIA?
Milano, Corman and Ord executive produce alongside Ross Richie & Stephen Christy of BOOM! Studios. BOOM!’s Josh Levy co-executive produces. There are no current plans for Milano to act.
Created by Milano and published by BOOM! imprint Archaia, the Hacktivist graphic novel series was written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly (DC’s Batman: Eternal ) and illustrated by Marcus To (Boom!’s Joyride). The well-reviewed series has released two volumes to date."
"Alyssa Milano has joined the board of directors for ACE Media (Athlete Content & Entertainment), an original content development and production company that works directly with the NFL Players Association. Milano will play a primary role on the ACE Media board, participating in the company’s strategic development and major decision-making while helping to navigate a wide array of athlete-driven content projects and initiatives, according to a statement from the company.
“I am very excited to embark on this new partnership with ACE Media, which provides a perfect outlet to combine my passion for sports with my many years of experience in the entertainment industry,” the “Charmed” actress said. “Sports stars are not only great athletes, but also entertainers, and I’m looking forward to advancing ACE Media’s vision and bringing vibrant new content to multiple platforms.”
“Alyssa joining the ACE Media board comes at a critical time in our growth. With hundreds of unique projects featuring almost 400 athletes last year, we’re focused on expanding even further,” Ahmad Nassar, President, NFLPA, and ACE Media Chairman of the Board, said. “Alyssa is the very best board member out there, with a unique track record bridging sports and entertainment. She’s going to help us develop even more great opportunities for athletes, programmers, publishers, brands and leagues to create content across all sports and media.”
“Alyssa is an absolute force of creativity and a terrific person, whose vast knowledge of the entertainment industry and passion for storytelling will greatly benefit ACE Media and athletes around the world,” Scott Langerman, ACE Media CEO and Board Member, added.
Helping active and retired NFL players secure entertainment opportunities both during and after their athletic careers, so fans can get to know them beyond game highlights and fantasy football stats. Among those NFL stars catapulted onto primetime is Kansas City Chiefs Pro Bowl Tight End Travis Kelce, who stars on his own E! dating show, “Catching Kelce.”
“This is really an incredible opportunity for every player,” he said. “To have someone with experience navigating Hollywood, and leveraging its crossover appeal with sports and business, is a tremendous asset for the NFLPA and ACE Media. What Alyssa Milano will bring to the table will help each and every one of us in showcasing our personalities beyond the field – and across different kinds of media.”
Along being a diehard L.A. Dodgers, L.A. Kings and New York Giants follower, Milano also has her own brand of fan apparel for women called Touch."
"Is Alyssa Milano pregnant?! The 43-year-old actress just shared a surprising photo of herself with a baby bump on Instagram — and it really threw her fans for a loop!
In her caption, Alyssa explained this photo — presumably taken while she was expecting her second child, daughter Elizabella — was included in Sara Blakely's new book, The Belly Art Project. Just last week, the actress similarly took to the social media platform to share a throwback photo of herself with a pregnant belly.
The former Who's the Boss? star and her husband, Creative Artists Agency agent David Bugliari — who married in August 2009 — previously welcomed son Milo, 5, in August 2011 and daughter Elizabella, 2, in September 2014. We hope these recent baby bump photos mean Alyssa and David will add Baby No. 3 to their bunch very soon!"
