New MLB Message from Alyssa!
As you probably already know, I'm active on Twitter. (Understatement of the year? Perhaps.) One of the things I truly appreciate about the service is the ability to curate your web experience. What I mean is, you can create your timeline based on the categories of information that you usually search for on the web. I'm a humanitarian, tech enthusiast, sports fanatic and animal lover. I follow people who curate the best of the Internet specifically on these topics and by doing so, this means instead of having to go to the 20 different sites I used to visit, the best of these sites will end up on my Twitter timeline as tweets from the sources I follow.

Also, I use Twitter's list feature to make the experience even more specific and personalized. I think of Twitter lists almost like programming my very own TV networks. They same way you might watch The Discovery Channel and know tonally the type of programming you will get, when you make lists, you know exactly the types of tweets you will receive on the list. And by creating lists on your favorite topics, you can keep tabs of accounts you may not want to end up in your timeline but might still contribute to that certain niche. I have created separate lists for: philanthropy, animals, humor, news, technology, and sports. When I look at the lists, it almost feels like I am channel surfing.

Yeah, I'm into it... (Understatement of the year? Perhaps.)

I joined Twitter over a year ago and along the way I have continued to follow (and unfollow) sports accounts there. I thought I'd share with you my absolute favorite sports accounts to follow. They range from curated sports news, to sports humor, to official player and team accounts.

1. Touch By AM - I know what you're thinking - shameless plug for my clothing line. Truth of the matter is, the Touch social media team tweets more than just information on the clothing line. Here you can find great links and updates on all things sports.

2. Maury Brown - Maury is the president/founder of the Business of Sports Network. He's an analyst, columnist, consultant, freelancer and covers sports outside the lines. He tweets about every angle of the business of sports with breaking news. He's also an autism awareness advocate.

3. Jon Weisman - He has been writing about the Dodgers since 2002 and thinking deeply about them since the 1970s. He doesn't just tweet about the Dodgers. He also tweets about TV and entertainment.

4. DodgertownUSA - All things Dodgers and is an official Twitter account of the Dodgers.

5. Wired Playbook - Wired.com's sports blog. They tweet very thoroughly about all sports news, even the random sports that aren't covered in mainstream sports media.

6. Huffington Post Sports They tweets great links to not only sports news but also, fun sports-related videos and photos. I highly recommend.

7. Jarrett Payton - Pro football player, entrepreneur and just a man that loves life. He's also the son of Walter Payton. His tweets are uplifting and he replies to his followers!

8. Michael Schlact - Professional baseball player with the Texas Rangers organization. Of all the athletes I follow, Michael seems to embrace the idea of social media the best. He often interacts with his followers in a meaningful and substantial way.

9. Batting Stance Guy - Funny, funny, funny tweets about baseball.

10. L.A. Times Sports - News about all Southern California sports.

11. Angela Ruggiero - Four-Time Ice Hockey Olympic medalist, World Champion, leader of the U.S. Women's National Team and a Harvard Graduate to boot. Angela often tweets about her workouts, travels, and is just a sweetheart of a person. Love her tweets.

12. InterSports Network - InterSports tweets about their OFFICIAL hockey player's websites.

13. Matthew Berry - The Fantasy Sports Guy at ESPN. Matthew is awesome on Twitter. He interacts with his followers, often giving them fantasy sports tips, and posts interesting links on all topics.

14. Tommy Lasorda - I mean, he's Tommy Lasorda. There's not much more I can say. I will add, however, that the pictures he shares on Twitter are freaking priceless.

15. Stats LLC - Leading Global Sports Information Company. They tweet lots of great MLB stats.

16. Curt Deppert - Curt is a Chicago sports fan and posts interesting links and news on all teams in all sports. I love reading his tweets.

17. Rob Madden - A sports fan like no other. His Twitter feed curates EVERYTHING that's going on in the world of sports and beyond.

18. Kim - Not only is Kim a huge sports fan who posts great tweets about sports, but she also tweets about social media, entertainment and news.

19. Jayson Werth's Beard - This account just makes me laugh.

20. MLB - I know if you're on Twitter and a baseball fan, you are most likely already following @MLB's tweets. If you're not, get on it. They tweet news, views, have exclusive Twitter giveaways, verify players, usher you around to 200+ MLB accounts, and reply to followers.

So, there you have it! I will keep looking for new sports Twitter accounts to fall in love with and will keep you updated on what I find.

In the interim, GO DODGERS!

Peace,
Love,
AND BASEBALL,
Alyssa
